10 years is a LONG time

and you never know

If the Pac-10 can keep Pete and his roll continues USC will still be a top dog

Ty is still building Washington and I don;t think he's looking to Jump

UCLA (allegedly) is tired of being a second rate program

I think Oregon was an injury away from plaing in a MUCH better bowl this year.

The Pac-10 has really come on strong the last 2-3 years and COULD continue

and considering Sabin & Miles- the two big newsmaking SEC coaches BOTH got outcoached TWICE this year and Urban is the next big NFL target who knows who is coming in next at Florida or how they are going to be in 10 years?

Not to mention based on prior history Sabin and the PetrinoCoward might be 3 jobs down the line and denying a 4th by then

Kentucky, Vandy South Carolina Georgia Miss State are coming back. While USC Oregon Oregon State California Arizona State Stanford and UCLA are completely opposite.

So what does that mean for the next ten years?

For all we know the Sun Belt could be the Top conference by then!

ok

In all seriousness

IF UCLA gets Norm Chow- and they could - then UCLA is going to be elite again- if Chow is all he is supposed to be.

Do you Really think that Vandy is going to compete for 10 years? Really? Do you honestly think that any coach that does anything is going to stay?

SEC Coaches are leaving for the NFL and so are the Big Ten and the Pac Ten are falling a little bit each year, Rich Rodriguiz will leave in three years for the NFL,so the Sun Belt will probably a great conference by ten years, but anyway the Pac-Ten teams are falling each year.

"SEC Coaches are leaving for the NFL" Right now there are not many Coaches in the SEC that would walk into an NFL job right now (Urban)

Urban leaving would create a GIANT hole in the SEC the only coach that could go pro at that level is Pete at USC- and If Norm Chow or even Kiffin is out then the Damage is reduced- and I think the chances of Pete leaving is about the same as the chances Petrino is the next head coach of the Steelers

Why do people start a TD and not even argue in their first argument?

December 16, 2007  03:51 PM ET

i think the pac-10 is already worse...

I Know

December 17, 2007  07:19 AM ET

S Carolina - been hearing about their comeback since Lou Holtz coached
Ky - 5th in the SEC east is a comeback?
Vandy - last I saw they were still a doormat
Miss State - still not ut of the bottom half of their division

Perhaps if the 2nd place SEC team didn't loose to the 7th place PAC10 team, I might be more convinced.

This makes no sense. The SEC is regarded as the best conference right now.

Go Big Blue,

I think even you need to vote for NC.

After cecent college coach's leaving the NFL, ones that come to mind are Spurrier, Sabin and of course Petrino. I am not too sure how willing NFL owners will be to hire college coach;s any time soon.

At the sametime the top programs are paying their "asset" coach big bucks to keep them. But there are a very few that do, or can.

Also seeing quality college coach's failing so miserably at the NFL level, and the hassles involved, even with the huge ego's these coach's have and "God" like status on campus, another will jump and fail.

wow what an argument big blue. this TD is like saying "The NFL will be bigger than the MLB in 10 years." dumb statement.

December 17, 2007  01:23 PM ET

I don't think the NFL will be hiring many college coaches in the near future.

December 17, 2007  01:53 PM ET

Couldn't they also rise THEN fall in ten years time?

December 17, 2007  04:17 PM ET

the states that harbor the southeast conference are sinking into the ocean and will be underwater by that time due to global warming, so i don't think the sec will rise above the Pac 10. ;)
