LeBron James is the best player in the NBA.

All anybody ever says is how terrible LBJ's supporting cast is, and he took that team to the finals. But when anyone asks who the best player in the NBA is, Kobe is always the answer. Why? Nobody will ever admit LeBron has finally taken over that role. He's the best player I've ever seen.

LeBron is one of the great players in the NBA, and he is averaging about 3 more points, one more rebound, and three more assists per game than Kobe, but LeBron is not a clutch player, and Kobe is. To prove it, LeBron has choked when he is at the free throw line with a 70% average, while Kobe is at 84%.

Kobe makes clutch shots, and LeBron hasn't reached that level in his game yet. When LeBron starts to do better when the pressure is one him, then he will be named the greatest in the game.

Um, do you remember that Pistons game last year? Where LeBron had 48 points and 29 of the last 30? How is that not clutch? That was the greatest performance I've ever seen by anybody. And when Kobe was making all these clutch shots in playoff games, he wasn't carrying the whole team basically by himself. Since Shaq left and Kobe took over as the man, he has not won a single playoff series. LeBron is just carrying the Cavs, and that makes him the best player in the NBA.

I won't deny that LeBron has a cast that he has to lift, but we've seen games where LeBron has choked by missing free throws, and open shots. I did see that Piston Game, and that was a step forward for LeBron, but we can't base his entire career off of one game. And that 48 point game was great, but the greatest performance I've ever seen was when Kobe put up 80 against the Raptors. When it comes down to it, 4 seconds left in the game, down by 2, there isn't a single person who I would give the ball to, ahead of Kobe Bryant.

Okay, so your reason for why Kobe is better is that he scored 80 points in a meaningless game? How many assists did he have in that game? This was right in the prime of Kobe's ballhog days. And guess what, its 2. That's a real team player. I don't care how hot of a game he's having, LeBron would never think of having only 2 assists in 42 minutes. I would rather have a player who puts up 30-10-10 then one who has 40-2-3. Points aren't everything, you know.

Kobe is greatest "closer" in the game

December 16, 2007  06:29 PM ET

James did great vs Pistons but did that only cause everybody was talking about him.......He doesnt have Kobe's innate hunger to want the ball in the clutch and be "The Man".......Sure James is a stat stuffer but those are hollow numbers

I was thinking about Howard stecky, but I was looking for "most complete" and Howard doesn't get assists or shoot well from outside.

I just looked at your profile. Dude, you are what we in the nation call a homer. You have a valid argument, but what do you mean by "best?" If you are talking "Most Valuable," LeBron is a clear favorite. He just missed 5 games and the Cavs lost all 5. From a talent perspective, Kobe is probably in a class by himself. Who do you think would win a one on one game between yhe 2? Make a better argument. I'll vote when you finish. And if LeBron is the best player you've ever seen, you haven't seen much basketball.

Kobe is better. Vote to Terpsfan.

Kobe is the best player in the NBA without a doubt.

Hey listen everybody burns on Kobe for that 81 point game vs Raps

Little known FACT:They were losing big by double figures to the RAPTORS when Kobe said screw this and took over the game

People never burn Jordan when he took over game's.....

Yes I said Jordan.....

Lebron doesn't play defense as well, either.

Within the next two or three years, I expect Lebron James to finally be tagged as the "best" player in the NBA. At this point, however, there are better players than he.
