Stat time!

Vinny Testaverde ranks 6th all time in yards, completions and attempts, and 8th in TDs.

You got RBs.

WRs. While Irvin is 25th in receptions, 16 in yards, and 39 in TDs all-time, Lynn Swann is not in the top 50 for any major receiving category, However, Keyshawn has far better stats than Wayne, so a tie here.

Jeremy Shockey already has more Pro Bowls and touchdowns than Young.

O-line is a wash.

At DE, Kernard Lang has more sacks and tackles than Jeter. And Rossovich was a linebacker his career in the pros. While he was a DE, he did not record any stats, according to pro-football-reference.com

DT. Al Cowlings vs Warren Sapp? Mike Patterson vs. Cortez Kennedy?

LB. Lewis and Hendricks lift me up over Seau and crew.

CB you got it. (Point of clarification, Hester came in as a CB, and was a CB in college. He had 9 tackles and 4 deflections as a DB last year)

S- you got that

5-3-2

No way I'd take Vinny over Carson. Vinnie is a journeyman QB, has been his entire career; Carson is a franchise QB that is right now one of the best young QBs in the NFL. I win.

At RB, I win, we agree.

At WR, we have a tie I suppose, we agree.

TE? Closer than you think, but Shockey does just edge Charle Young out, we agree.

At Offensive Line, I SMOKE you. Not even close, I win.

I will give you DE and DT.

At LB, I'd say Seau is in or close to Lewis's level, Hendricks is somewhat better than Matthews, but Tatupu is a fair amount better than Vilma. A tie.

CB, Devin Hester isn't even a CB anymore. I win.

S, I win, we agree.

So that means my record is 5-3-2, yours is 3-5-2.

Sure, but throughout his entire career, you have to appreciate his ability. Vinny has come in for the past 100 years and done his job, be a servicable QB. He is again 8th all time in touchdowns, ahead of just to name a few, Joe Montana, Steve Young, Jim Kelly, Boomer Esaison, and Phil Simms. He has more yards than Montana, Peyton Manning, Troy Aikman and Johnny Unitas. Maybe TODAY you'd rather have Palmer, but over his career, I'd take Vinny.

Linebacker, over 3 years in Vilma's career (he has been injured this year so I did the 3 others), he has 389 tackles, 60 more than Tatupu. Also, he has only 2 fewer picks, while missing most of this year. Tatupu seems as if he has better stats, but if Vilma was not injured this year, I would imagine he has better or the same stats.

Give me those two back. 5-4-1.

NO WAY IN HECK is a career journeyman QB better than one of the better QBs of our time. They both have 2 Pro Bowls in their career, but Carson also has the better numbers. I have no clue how you can make an argument over this, Testaverde had a good career and longevity; Palmer is having a great career thus far, and is certainly better than Vinny. Great franchise QB > good journeyman QB.

You make a cheap argument with Vilma over Tatupu. Tatupu is IN his 3rd year! You can't compare Vilma's first three years to that. However, at the pace Tatupu is going, we can compare their first three years:

Tatupu: 343 tackles, 9 INT, 6.5 sacks, 5 FF, 27 PD
J Vilma: 396 tackles, 5 INT, 2.5 sacks, 5 FF, 15 PD

Vilma has the advantage nowhere but tackles. And remember, Vilma was struggling mightily before he was injured. He wasn't even on pace for 100 tackles, and there's a lot of talk of trading him, even though he's still very young and a former 1st rounder. Oh yeah, and Tatupu already has 2 Pro Bowls and Vilma only 1 (despite being in the league a year longer)...and I'd say Vilma has a more well-known name than Tatupu. Lofa is just better, there's no doubt.

can't compete on defense...i'm backing out.....sorry

December 17, 2007  03:48 PM ET

Hester's a receiver now.. does he stil count as a CB sice that's what he came in the league as?

December 17, 2007  03:50 PM ET

Yes.

December 17, 2007  03:50 PM ET

This has been accepted by 4 different people now.

December 17, 2007  03:56 PM ET

this could be done with Ohio State, Florida, Florida State, Michigan or ND, and have a team that could compete here.

Gotta have USC.

December 17, 2007  03:59 PM ET

LOL Esco...

It is hard. Just no other school competes all around with Miami, IMO.

And anyway, don't get your panties in a bunch. Just cool it settle down breath

December 17, 2007  03:59 PM ET

Yeah, USC is the one I was looking at, but still, I couldn't get them all around.

December 17, 2007  04:02 PM ET

I am declining too. I don't have enough time to look up every single position. I was going to take FSU. They have produced NFL stars like Derrick Brooks, Deion Sanders, Terrell Buckley, Walter Jones, Corey Simon, Janikowski, Anquan Boldin, Peter Boulware, Javon Walker and Warrick Dunn among others. I just couldn't think of an entire roster but these guys alone are more impressive than the stars on your team.
