I think that the best player in the NHL so for this season is Henrik Zetterberg.
He has come from almost nowhere and dominated this year. He records a point in mostly every game that you see, he is dominant in shootouts too and he is unstoppable when he is on a line with Thomas Holmstrom and Pavel Datsyuk.

Jarome Iginla

I hate to say it, but Iginla has been VERY dominant as well. I have to disagree on this statement:

"He has come from almost nowhere and dominated this year."

Look what he has accomplished so far:

- Elitserien Won Rookie Of Year in 2001
- Played For Team Sweden 2001-2006
- Won A Bronze, Silver, Gold Medal At Olympics With Team
- Named to 2007 Western Conference All-Star Team
- Last Year, Was Noted As One Of Biggest Draft Steals

Well, it looks like he wasn't a nobody in years past, so I have to disagree with that statement that you used.

Now, onto Jarome Iginla to this year, lets compare stats, shall we? Here we go:

Points:
Iginla - 48 Points
Zetterberg - 45 Points

Goals:
Iginla - 23 Goals
Zetterberg - 23 Goals

Assists:
Iginla - 25 Assists
Zetterberg - 22 Assists

+/-:
Iginla - 13
Zetterberg - 13

Shot %
Iginla - 15.8%
Zetterberg - 13.9%

You wanted to how who is doing better in the NHL. From the way it looks from these stats so far, Jarome Iginla is doing better, even though it hurts to go against a Red Wing.

So I am going with Jarome Iginla, of the Flames.

Well I said that he cam out of nowhere because of last season. He didn't dominate like he is doing this year. Last year Zetterberg recorded 33 goals and 35 assists for 68 points. Now that was only in 63 games but he has played 32 games this year. So that is just under half of the games he played last year. So he is on pace for 90 points in 64 games which is 22 more points than what he had last year.

And lets take a look at some stats that you did not include:

Shots:
Iginla- 146
Zetterberg- 166

PP Goals:
Iginla- 8
Zetterberg- 9

SH Goals:
Iginla- 0
Zetterberg- 1

Ok, I know that those aren't much but the little things count. I just think that Zetterberg is the most explosive and dominant player in the NHL this season.

Well, did you see him the second half of the year last year after the All-Star break? He did VERY good, and people were saying he was the key on how they had their success the rest of the year. So, I don't know about you, but he didn't come out of nowhere last year, and you can take it from a diehard Red Wings Fan.

Now, onto your stats. You shooting stat does not help you, it helps me. It says that Zetterberg took 20 more shots than Iginla, and they have the same amount of goals. Which tells me, that Iginla has been the one that has been able to score better, to this point.

Anyway, it shows that Iginla has been able to score easier, he has more points, more assists, and has a higher percentage of scoring when he shoots. Which leads me to believe that he has been the better all around player to this point.

I know what these players are on a pace for, and Iginla is also already about HALF way to the stats he had last year, which is also a sign that he is a good all-around player this year. Without his leadership, the Flames would not be as good as they are. Not saying Zetterberg isn't, but the Flames losing Iginla, is a bigger loss, than the Red Wings losing Zetterberg.

ok well i guess that it will hurt the flames more if they lost iginla because in detroit they have datsyuk, holmstrom and lidstrom and in calgary they have only like huselius. And i think that the shots stat says zetterberg is better because he gets more shots on net. So i think that Zetterberg is the Best Overall player in the NHL this season so far.

Well, he gets more shots on the net, but does he score on them more? Not by my watch, they both have 23 Goals. His goal scoring per shot percentage is lower than Iginla's as well. So that makes Iginla the better shooter at the moment.

Here is a recap of why Iginla has been the better all-around player:

- Better Stats
- Means More To His Team If Injured
- Better Goal Scorer, (Higher Percentage)

Well, I don't know, but I think an all-around player means a lot to his team, and can make an impact individually as well. I think Iginla has that. Zetterberg does too, but back to the importance they have on their team, the Flames would not be standing a big chance without Iginla. I think Iginla has been best so far this season, to this point.
