I only chose teams from the Superbowl era and all of my teams won Superbowls, unlike your list. There is no way the Bears are #1 with such a shtty quarterback. And the undefeated Fish are very overrated and lucky they went undefeated.

they had better then great defense. and pritty good offense. but the 78 steelers where good but noway and the 85 bears have to atleast be number two defintly if not one there opponents feared them like they where gods. look up on your history and u will see.

That's why I put them at #4. But not above 3 legendary teams that were all without weakness. Look, Mike Singletary is one of my favorite players of all-time, but McMahon was too much of a weak link to rate that team #1. You can't put them ahead of Lombardi's Packers and the best of the Montana teams. And the Steelers were the best of all. With 10 Hofers. The '85 Bears have 2. And that's it. No one else from that club is getting in.
The '72 Fish had the easiest schedule of any SB champ in history. They only faced 2 teams with a winning record during the season and had 8 wins of less than a touchdown. Hardly dominant.
You also have a team on your list that lost a SB, yet you don't have the team that beat them.

ill reput my 2 agument that was not what i ment to say.they had better then great defense and good offense but the 78 steelers where good but nowhere close to 1 well close but defintly not number 1. the 85 bears have to atleast be in the top 3 i mean come on there opponents feared there defense as if they where gods. well they may have had the easiest schedule but still i beleave if they played more teams with a winning streak they would have beat them.

now im a patriots fan but i dont think there in the top 10 best foot ball teams of all time in NFL histroy i just think theres about 11 to 12 teams better then them in the NFL history.

The Steelers were the #1 defense and offense. They were great at every position. The Bears had a weak QB and mediocre receivers. And payton was past his prime at that point. 10 HoFers to 2 about sums it up.
That Pats team won 3 SB's. They have to be mentioned. The '04 team was the one with Dillon. So I rate them the best. I think this years team is gonna fold to the Colts.
You can't put a losing SB team over the '04 Pats. The only team I would put above the '99 Rams is the '84 49ers or the '06 Colts.
The '00 Ravens had just as good of a defense as the '85 Bears and no one would put them in a top 10.

I almost put the '06 Colts at 10.

Ruby Noon, how are the 85 Bears #4 on your list. They should be top 3 without a doubt and I'd put them as my #1. That defense didn't just hit you, they forced you into submission.

December 17, 2007  10:47 PM ET

Where are the 84 49ers?

December 17, 2007  10:50 PM ET

You are both on crack! The 72' Dolphins were the ONLY undefeated team EVER! To put them at #2 is wrong, to put them at #6 is stupid... No one gets my vote on this one...

December 17, 2007  10:53 PM ET

they where undifeated but they didint have the playoffs back then either

December 17, 2007  10:54 PM ET

I am going to wait for more arguments before I make judgment on this, but my first gut instinct goes several ways. First, the TD topic was "Top 10 Teams in NFL History", not "Top 10 Super Bowl Champions"... so that part of Noon's argument is moot to me...

I would, however, tend to argue that the 1985 Bears were not as complete a team as some others on the list... their defense was formidable, but McMahon was more a splash of bravado and bluster than a dominant quarterback.

But I find it hard to overrate any team that goes undefeated...

So we will see where the arguments go from here...

December 17, 2007  10:54 PM ET

That "shtty QB" led the #1 offense in the league in '85. More than enough to compliment perhaps the best defense in history.

December 17, 2007  10:57 PM ET

The 1925 Pottsville Maroons! (Sorry, I just picked up Fleming's book on the team)

December 17, 2007  10:57 PM ET

Did not have the playoffs back then? Huh? YES THEY DID! The regular season was only 14 games instead of 16, but they most definitely had the playoffs.

December 17, 2007  11:00 PM ET

no they didin't u can ask some one and they will say no they didin't

December 17, 2007  11:01 PM ET

You spelled pretty wrong.

December 17, 2007  11:05 PM ET

o my bad

December 17, 2007  11:11 PM ET

They did had playoffs... The Dolphins won Super Bowl 7 in 1972.

Check here for the whole schedule...

It is true...of ALL the Super Bowl winners in NFL history the 72 Dolphins had the EASIEST schedule by FAR.

"they where undifeated but they didint have the playoffs back then either" -lanchbury

Oh my god...not only can you NOT spell, but you are also quite stupid.

December 17, 2007  11:15 PM ET

Also, vote to Noon, even though the 85 Bears should be top three, but I can't disagree with her top two...

December 17, 2007  11:17 PM ET

They still had to win in the playoffs... They had to get to the Super Bowl and win it... They were a Garo away from winning the Super Bowl 17-0 too...

December 17, 2007  11:21 PM ET

man my agument sucked thats not what i ment ill retype it in my next agument so every buddy can under stand it sorry every buddy

December 17, 2007  11:30 PM ET

McMahon was not a "shtty quarterback". I do believe Da Bears' offense that year was pretty damn good. The Bears would've won at least one more Super Bowl in the late 80's if he had not gotten hurt.

Actually they DID have a good offense...a great rushing offense with a complimentary passing attack. I think they were top 10 in scoring offense that season...
