Please read the entire argument before voting. The AFC player who's snub was more egregious has to have been Jacksonville running back Fred Taylor. Despite sharing a crowded backfield and splitting carries with diminutive fan favorite Maurice Jones Drew, Taylor ran for 1,100 yards(more than Joseph Addai) through 14 games while averaging 5.1 yards per carry(higher than Willie Parker, Joseph Addai AND LaDanian Tomlinson's YPC, who were both selected over him).

Taylor's snub is not only more of a travesty because of his team's overall success, and his own statistical production but because of the voters recidivist habit of constantly passing over him. Even BEFORE this season, Taylor was the only player among the top 48, career rushers(a list he's still ascending at an incredible rate) WITHOUT a Pro Bowl invitation.
My next argument, I'll sympathize with why he was unjustly overlooked.

Taylor was a huge snub.......

Mario Williams......53 tackles (37 solo, 16 assisted), 13 sacks, 81 yards lost, 2 forced fumbles

No Hall of Fame career is complete without a trip to the Pro Bowl, yet somehow, the consumate pro, teammate and person Fred Taylor is on track to do just that. As in all sports, veterans get the nod before young bucks like Mario, who will play in many future Pro Bowls.

Taylor isn't AS shifty a runner as MJonesDrew but he does incorporate BOTH power and finesse into his game. Off the field, T.O.'s brash, cantankerous behavior has turned many fans as well as HOF voters off to him, so why haven't fans warmed up to Taylor's humble nature?

Sorry..........Puter problems

Mario Williams is a beast and may end up with 15 or 16 sacks this season

Not Pro Bowl worthy???

Please, he is proving to be worthy of being selected 1st over that bust a little ways away.......Ummmm

Reggie Bush

The Pro Bowl voting is flawed and shouldnt be done until the 16th game or even the 1st week of the playoffs

I gotta go, so I'll be quick. At the time of the Pro Bowl voting wrapped up, Williams only had 9.5 sacks, which isn't THAT great. Fact is this. Their were other players who were neck and neck statistically and in terms of value but Taylor's is the BIGGEST and most egregious because it's become almost repetitive for him. Hell, ESPN even devoted an entire article to his snub. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3162059
Peace out y'all.

11 RB's have 1,000 yards and 8 or 9 more could break the 1,000 mark this season........

Williams has 13 (2nd in NFL by the way) of Houston's 28 sacks this year......He is much more important to that defense than Taylor is to Jacksonville's offense since they have MJD......

Think its a little harder to get double figure sacks in NFL than it is 1,000 yards rushing

The thing about Mario Williams is that he had 3.5 of his sacks AFTER the Pro Bowl votes were in.

And looking at his numbers BEFORE the Denver game, no body would have called him a Pro Bowl snub.

December 20, 2007  05:01 PM ET

DJ, you pulled a crapper here.

Half of Williams' sacks came after the voting...

December 20, 2007  05:02 PM ET

Vote to DJ. Why? Because I am tired of people whining about Fred Taylor missing out. I Maurice Jones-Drew wasn't on the team, Taylor would not have nearly as good of a ypc average. That way, teams could focus in on just one guy. He should have been in multiple times before this year, but not this year.

December 20, 2007  05:03 PM ET

I am not even voting, Leech...

December 20, 2007  05:04 PM ET

DJ, you need to make longer, better arguments.

December 20, 2007  05:05 PM ET

And less of these (...)

December 20, 2007  05:06 PM ET

I wouldn't, but I hate when people whine about this crap over and over. It isn't like he is going to need the vote anyway. If DJ has a serious argument next and still gets out-argued, I will change the vote.

December 20, 2007  05:07 PM ET

Still have 2 left guys

Just throwing a name out there

December 20, 2007  05:08 PM ET

The Pro Bowl is FLAWED, wait until the last week of the season or even the 1st week of the playoffs

December 20, 2007  05:13 PM ET

Rex Grossman got hosed in the voting

December 20, 2007  05:15 PM ET

I told you dj cant argue. Ive been saying it for months and you just now catch on?

December 20, 2007  05:19 PM ET

Even in FanNation, Fred Taylor gets the shaft

December 20, 2007  05:28 PM ET

Even on FanNation, you are an idiot.

December 20, 2007  05:36 PM ET

Screw off Gangster

December 20, 2007  05:38 PM ET

Wow great argument! Really had me when you pulled out the "Reggie Bush". Let me just tell you that is SO relevant to the TD. How you have 105 wins is beyond me.

December 20, 2007  05:40 PM ET

"Mario Williams is a beast and may end up with 15 or 16 sacks this season"

that was your ENTIRE argument. The rest was you mumbling. You have me so convinced here. And you know what? Why bring up Fred Taylor, Willie Parker, or Joseph Addai? I mean they are only the people you are "arguing" against. Why not Bush instead. It all makes sense now!

December 20, 2007  05:53 PM ET

Good TD, (other)DJ!

December 20, 2007  06:16 PM ET

Thanks

U 2

December 20, 2007  06:27 PM ET

Both guy's got snuffed. But I feel that Mario has had a lot on him to prove he is worthy of that #1 pick and has proved it this year. He is a pro bowler. The RB position is tough because there are so many good running backs. Fred and should have got the nod ove Addia but I think it is crazy for Mario to be out.

Fred is what he is. Good not great. Mario is a star.
