Only accept this TD if you do not think that Fred Taylor should have made the pro bowl.

Alright, I think that Fred Taylor got snubbed from the pro bowl. Here are the 3 Running backs that made it in front of him:

Ladanian Tomlinson
Willie Parker
Joseph Addai

I said he only should have made it instead of one of them and it is not Tomlinson, so it is one of the other two, so lets compare.

Fred Taylor shares carries with MJD and still manages to have the 4th most rushing yards in the AFC, that is amazing. He even has more yards than Addai despite Addai having 35 more carries than Taylor.

Fred Taylor averages a staggering 5.1 yards per carry. Addai averages 4.1 yards per carry and Parker also averages 4.1 yards per carry. So Taylor averages a whole yard more than both Addai and Parker.

Fred Taylor has 4 touchdowns and Parker has 2 touchdowns. So Parker has 104 more carries than Taylor and Taylor has 2 more touchdowns.

Taylor has 42 1st down runs, Parker has 49 and Addai has 60. So Taylor has much less carries than both of them and is still very close to Parker at least in 1st down runs. Also Parker has fumbled 4 times and Taylor has only fumbled twice.

So I can argue for both Addai and Parker, but there is a stronger case for Addai over Taylor.

You're seeming to forget that Addai is very good receiver out of the backfield. Addai has 351 receiving yards out of the backfield this year, an average of 9.0 yard per catch. Taylor has only 58 receiving yards this year on nine catches, about 6.4 yards per catch. Addai has three touchdowns through the air, including a 73-yard catch and run against the Patriots. Addai is more complete back than Taylor as he can catch out of the backfield in addition to running the ball.

As for Parker, it's hard not to make a case for the NFL's leading rusher. Parker has been a workhorse this year (accounting for his lower yards per carry). There have only been 6 games this year where Parker has not rushed for more than 100 yards. Taylor has only rushed for 100 yards four times. Yes, yes, I know he's sharing carries with MJD, but still.

As for Parker's low touchdown numbers, the Steelers have been throwing more near the goaline, and as a team, they only have 7 rushing TDs. Roethlisberger has thrown for 21 TDs inside the opponents 20-yard line, taking chances away from Parker.

Alright here are my cases for Taylor over Parker and Taylor over Addai. Remember I just said one of them, I would probably take Taylor over Parker more than Taylor over Addai.

Taylor averages 1 more YPC than Parker and that is a lot. Taylor only has 7 less 1st doqwn runs than Parker despite Parker having more than 100 more carries than Taylor. Taylor has 2 more touchdowns than Parker. If Taylor would have 320 attempts like Parker, Taylor would have about 1632 yards, that is a close number since he averages 5.1 YPC.

This is a response to your reason why Parker does not have much TD. Taylor has more even though he has way less carries and splits time with MJD. MJD will take away touchdowns. MJD has 8 TD, so Taylor could have more TD.

As I said I believe Taylor should have made it over Parker more than he making it over Addai.

Taylor has more yards than Addai despite 35 less carries. Taylor, also averages 5.1 YPC, so if he had the same amount of carries as Addai, he would have a lot more yards than Addai.

Addai is on a better team with a better passing game than the Jags. With the passing game Addai is in, it makes it easier to receive and run.

Cont'd. below

Forfeited Turn

Alright I cannot really argue against your argument because you missed the deadline, so you had your argument forfeited.

Addai is on a better team with a better passing game than the Jaguars. With the passing game Addai is in, it makes it much easier to be a better receiving running back than where Taylor is at.

That also creates a lot of holes to run through because they are afraid of the passing game also. The Jaguars do not have as good as a passing game as the Colts do.

That was continued from my last argument that I could not fit in there.

I know the pro bowl is more of a popularity contest these days, but Fred Taylor still deserved the pro bowl more than Willie Parker mainly because he averaged more yards, had more touchdowns, and was very close in other categories despite having way less carries and playing time to rack up the stats that Willie Parker could.

I the last 5 games Taylor has averaged 114.4 yards per game with 3 TD and Parker has averaged 88.8 yards per game without scoring a single TD in the past 5 games.

Taylor averages the most yards per carry in the AFC and he is doing all of this at the age of 31 years old. Now that is impressive!!

So Taylor is in (or most likely in) because Parker is out.

Averaging more yards is great, but sometimes you actually have to gain more yards, like Parker has. Parker has more yards. More yards = more production. Average = more potential production.

But what about before the past five games? Taylor has just been coming on recently. Before the last five games, Taylor was averaging 57.7 yards per game and 4.1 yards per carry. Parker on the other hand, was averaging 97 yards per game in the prior nine and averaged 4.1 yards per carry.

Point: Parker has been consistent the whole year, while Taylor has come out of nowhere. And you talk about how MJD is hurting Taylor's stats, he's actually HELPING Taylor. Parker is the workhorse for Pittsburgh, taking 65% of the carries. Taylor has only taken 45% of the carries. MJD allows Taylor to come in fresh, while Parker does it all himself, accounting for his lower YPC.

Should the better player or the player who benefits immensely from his team be in the Pro Bowl.

Parker definitely. Parker does a lot more himself, while Taylor is benefitting from a two-back system.

Alright, we will TD here. Did you find anyone for thwe other TD?

December 20, 2007  08:50 PM ET

Come on Phillyman. I'm tired of these Fred Taylor throwdowns. I don't mind the ones on other people, but everyone does Fred Taylor.

December 20, 2007  08:53 PM ET

Taylor deserved to make it over Parker.

December 20, 2007  09:01 PM ET

lol

December 20, 2007  09:04 PM ET

This is my 6th pro bowl TD. Sorry leech, but i did everyone i disagree with and i am angruy about it.

Continued from 2nd argument:

Addai is on a better team with a better passing game than the Jaguars. With the passing game Addai is in, it makes it much easier to be a better receiving running back than where Taylor is at.

That also creates a lot of holes to run through because they are afraid of the passing game also. The Jaguars do not have as good as a passing game as the Colts do.

December 20, 2007  09:23 PM ET

December 20, 2007  09:50 PM ET

I got in trouble for yelling profanities at my television....

December 20, 2007  09:51 PM ET

I hate that people hate Duke so much. It makes no sense.

December 20, 2007  09:53 PM ET

Gravity, people hate greatness. There's nobody that absolutely hates a team that hasn't done anything ever.

Duke's one of the best programs in the history of the sport (undeniable), so of course, people hate them.

December 20, 2007  09:54 PM ET

Yes, but nowhere near as many people hate Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, UCLA, etc. There's like a mutual Duke hatred in college b-ball that isn't there for other dynastic teams.
