Take 1 NBA player from each of the top 5 record wise teams to make the best possible team. (real possitions apply)

This is harder than you think

C- Howard (ORL)
PF- KG (BOS)
SF- Prince (DET)
SG- Ginobli (SAS)
PG- Nash (PHX)

Remember only 1 player from every team so you cant just choose every teams stars (thats why I chose Prince from Detroit) You need to use real positions.

C- Duncan (SA)
PF- KG (BOS)
SF- Josh Howard (DAL same record as ORL and wanted to make it different)
SG- Rip Hamilton (DET)
PG- Steve Nash (PHX)

I took two players that are not the stars of their perspective teams but are all around hustlers and players.

K now to compare...
Duncan vs. Howard (Duncan first)
ppg. 17.9 vs. 23.5 (Howard wins)
apg. 2.6 vs. 1.5 (Duncan wins)
rpg. 9.3 vs. 15.1 (Howard wins)
bpg. 1.7 vs. 2.7 (Howard wins)
Howard gets 6 more ppg. 6 more rpg. and 1 more bpg. those are the stats that really matter for centers.
Prince vs. Howard (Prince first)
ppg. 13.9 vs. 21.9 (Howard wins)
apg. 3.0 vs. 2.2 (Prince wins)
rpg. 5.2 vs. 7.1 (Howard wins)
3pt% i wont even say cuz its so far (Prince wins)
Pretty much their stats are close but Prince is younger so he would help a team for longer. Also Prince's stats arent so good because he is surrounded by stars.
Ginobli vs. Hamilton (Ginobli first)
ppg. 20.0 vs. 17.6 (Ginobli wins)
apg. 4.4 vs. 4.3 (Ginobli wins)
rpg. 4.8 vs. 3.4 (Ginobli wins)
even though Ginobli wins most of the categories the stats are close but Ginobli was on the Spurs when they won the Finals and has proven that he is clutch in the postseason.

Alright I will give you Ginobli over Hamilton but look at the number not very differant. And as you stated for Prince he is on a team of stars?
Next Howard is a much better player than Prince just watch the two play.
Howard scores 8 MORE points per game and rebound 2 more per game and Howard is 2 MONTHS older (such a youth advantage)
As for Duncan COME ON! He is the best and smartest player in the NBA he make everyone around him better. He is having a slow start but I promise his numbers will be right there with Howard at the end. Also I will take a leader, NBA Championship, Final MVP and NBA MVP over a guy having a good year any day.

Okay we have now settled 2 disputes
I win Ginobli over Hamilton
ill give you Howard over Prince
So now we are down to the last position
Howard is just much better
6 more ppg
6 more rpg!!! 6 MORE
1 less assist
1 more block per game
and 8% better fg%
his numbers are just way better than Duncan. You say that Duncan is the best player in the NBA well how about... Lebron, Kobe, Wade, and.... Dwight Howard!!!

Dwight Howard is far from the best player in the NBA.
And as for Rip and Ginobli not much of a difference there. But I will let you have that one.
Again Tim has how many rings?
How many MVPs?
He is the fundamental of basketball. He truly makes every player around him better. And this hurts me to say because I am NOT a Spurs fan at all. I am a huge Mavs fan. But, If you take my line up against your line up I just do not see yours coming out on top. I believe that every player on my team has been to the All-Star game.

Here is their career stats and mind you Tim has played a lot longer the Howard. Not one stat does Howard lead Duncan in career except turnovers. And 23 game into a season is no way to rank if a player is better then another. Also Tim has done this against a MUCH better conference so looks to me as Tim gets the nod!

Howard fg% 3% ft% off def rpg apg S B TO PF PTS
274 273 35.7 0.562 0.125 0.609 3.5 8.5 12.0 1.5 0.9 1.7 2.92 3.10 16.0

Duncan
767 766 37.3 0.509 0.195 0.681 3.1 8.7 11.8 3.2 0.8 2.4 2.86 2.70 21.7

**** man sorry. i screwed that up. I saw the 1 person per team rule but screwed it up. my bad.

not my fault if you cant argue

Report Offensive Comment

there are tons of stars on those teams that you could choose

Did not read these comment below P.S Dallas is much better of a team then ORL.

So do I get to argue before people start voting?

Dallas gets the vote. Howard is having an amazing season but there is no way you can put him above Tim Duncan. It is obvious that Howard is going to have better numbers that Duncan. Duncan plays with two other all-stars and is surrounded by a team that helps lighten his load. But there has to be something said for expirience and no one has more than Timmy.

I am sur I will take some heat for this due to the D. Howard hype right now. And do not get me wrong he is an outstanding player. Just you take my team with the 3 NBA MVPs. All, All-star and the fact that 3 of my players have made it to the finals and know what it takes. I think as a team my unit gels better.

Report Offensive Comment

Definitely gotta go with Duncan in this argument... plus you don't get Josh Howard at SF without taking Duncan... vote gotta go to the Dallas, because Howard in Orlando is having a great year but Duncan has had a better career and this was about BEST POSSIBLE TEAM... Duncan is a proven winner who gives you a realistic shot at a ring (and his FIFTH...)
