This will be based on this year and the past few years.

I will go with Carmelo Anthony. He is one of the best pure scorers in the league. He has average 24.2 PPG throughout his career and has a solid start this year with 25.2 PPG to his name. He is a solid rebounder also (6.2 RPG). What makes his stats even more impressive is that he is still able to put up big numbers while being on the same team as Allen Iverson.

Melo plays in the West where he has to deal with Dirk Nowitzki, Carlos Boozer, Tim Duncan, all of those guys and more. They are all great defenders but how does Carmelo handle it? Lke a piece of cake. He is the best all-around foward in the league by far.

darn thats who I was gonna take... well i suppose ill take Nowitzki. He is also a great scorer (career average of 22.3 ppg.). he has won league MVP . He is also a solid rebounder with 8.6 rpg. on his career. He like Anthony plays with stars which include Jason Terry, Josh Howard, and Jerry Stackhouse. He is also a great jump shooter which is surprising for a big man (471 fg% on career, 868 ft%, and 379 3pt% on his career). His assists per game have also improved throughout his career until he has reached the 4 assists per game that he has now. Anthony is good but Dirk is just better overall!

Carmelo Anthony is also a perenial MVP candidate. He is usually #2 or #3 in MVP voting. Dirk Nowitzki has never finished that high (excpet when he won it). Carmelo is a much better scorer who can set the table himself. He doesn't need Jason Terry and Devin Harris to pass it to him in the paint.

Nowitzki is a slightly better rebounder but Melo is averaging 6.2 RPG and he is only 6' 8". This is sorta tall but a guy his hight would usually average about 4 RPG.

Melo plays on a team with some stars (A.I., Marcus Camby, ect.) while Nowitzki plays with one star (Josh Howard) and tons of has-beens (a.k.a. Jerry Stackhous, Jason Terry, ect.). They were good a few years ago but know they are older and they have lost their magis (most of it anyway)..

Carmelo is a better passer overall (3.0 APG vs. 2.7). And about the 3-point thing. I don't care if anybody is bigg, small, tall, round, whatever. Everyone can sink a 3-pointer, you just have to have skill. You said "He is also a great jump shooter which is surprising for a big man." Any big man can shoot 3's.

Now to disprove everything you said:
"he has never come 2nd or 3rd in the MVP voting except when he won it"
exactly he WON it!!! unlike Anthony who has never won it
Nowitzki is a slighty better rebounder? He gets 2.6 more rebounds per game. Thats not slighty better thats WAY better!
Terry still gets 16 points per game. Devin Harris is a good and improving young point guard who gets 10+ pts. 5+ assists per game. Josh Howard gets 20+ pts. 7+ rebounds per game. Stackhouse also gets 10+ pts. per game off the bench. You still think that Dirk isnt surrounded by talent?
Now for your last thing... have you ever seen Shaq make a three? NO! Ben Wallace? NO! Nowitzki? YES!!!! Not many big men can shoot and hit 3's like Nowitzki can. And for your assists thing... that is a 0.3 difference that makes such a big difference!

The Realest this is for the last few years not just this season

December 22, 2007  11:03 AM ET

Barkley was right......

Melo is no elite player; he doesnt rebound, pass or play defense.....When he had his bad shooting slump recently he is no good to team......

Great players do the little things that help a team win then they arent scoring or shooting the ball very good.......

December 22, 2007  11:03 AM ET

Boozer plays defense and rebounds

December 22, 2007  11:05 AM ET

KG

Duncan

Take your pick

December 22, 2007  11:07 AM ET

Hell

Caron Butler plays defense, rebounds and passes

Josh Howard is also better

usually 2 or 3 in MVP voting?? cmon man theres no need to flat out lie.

December 22, 2007  11:51 AM ET

It's Duncan. How do you have a TD titled best forward in the league and not include Duncan or KG? Idiots!

December 22, 2007  11:54 AM ET

I am a huge MAVS fan and I still would have choose Duncan or KG. I think KG has a slight nod he does it all.

December 22, 2007  12:00 PM ET

Yah I would of taken KG but when I first argued this TD I thought that it was only thisn and last season not career

December 22, 2007  12:27 PM ET

December 22, 2007  01:18 PM ET

December 22, 2007  02:01 PM ET

Peja is up there. He is having a good season this year. I'll go with Melo though, because I really don't like Dirk.

December 22, 2007  06:57 PM ET

Dirk isnt even the best forward on his own team!
Howard is better.

list of better forwards:
McGrady
Garnett
Peirce
Jefferson (Al)
Duncan

December 22, 2007  06:58 PM ET
