You said Colt Brennan was "the best QB in college football history" prove it in a real debate...

Well, I never said that, but OK...

Now, keep in mind this is about COLLEGE, and what they did IN COLLEGE, NOT how you think they'll do in the NFL.

Let's look at some of his numbers first:
- Record for most touchdown passes ever
- Record for most total touchdowns ever
- Record for most touchdown passes in a season
- Record for highest ever efficiency rating
- Record for passing yards in a two season span.

Say what you want about system or whatever, but you can't beat those numbers for a QB. He has been a top 10 Heisman finalist twice. His Warriors are the only undefeated team in the NCAA, and Brennan has led them to the school's first ever BCS bowl game.

So... he holds most major college passing records, and is a proven winner. What more can I say?

OK I hit the submit button on accident and didnt get my arguement, I also meant to send this to one person not anyone, but for whatever reason it went public..
The guy said he was the the best college Qb ever, I feel he is not and could name many more that are better currently and better in the past. Brennan was the product of a throw at all costs offense and a weak schedule, he would not have won that much or put up those numbers in say....the SEC. Thats just my opinion, but look at what it takes to be an average QB in the SEC PAC 10 or even the Big Ten. Those attributes are not needed to play at Hawaii or the WAC...
I am by no means saying he hasnt been good or put up amazing numbers, but just think of what a Carson Palmer or Vince Young could have done against that schedule??? speculation maybe, but so is saying Brennan is the best college QB ever....

you an say how his schedule was rated 119th out of 119th....

December 23, 2007  08:27 PM ET

Eh... 58 touchdowns is 58 touchdowns...

December 23, 2007  08:48 PM ET

No way. The guy has AWFUL mechanics and is a product of the system that they run in Hawaii. I think a lot of QB's would put up those crazy numbers on that team. Look at Chang last year and whoever takes over next year will put up huge numbers.

December 23, 2007  08:58 PM ET

Colt Brennan is nowhere close to being the best QB in college football history...

However, the other guys argument leaves a little to be desired

December 23, 2007  09:02 PM ET

Really NORCAL? He has awful mechanics?

His 3/4 release is different, but hey, that is how he rolls. Vince Young throws that way too.

And once again, this isn't about NFL futures. Just about what they did in college, and it is hard to beat what Brennan did, system or not.

December 23, 2007  09:03 PM ET

Thats a great argument xxx84xxx, vote to EH with a great argument even though he probly isnt the best

December 23, 2007  09:07 PM ET

he didn't even put an argument out yet....he was waiting for his opponent to back up what he said earlier in another td or post or wherever it may be that he said it.

"No way. The guy has AWFUL mechanics and is a product of the system that they run in Hawaii. I think a lot of QB's would put up those crazy numbers on that team. Look at Chang last year and whoever takes over next year will put up huge numbers."

Really, look at Chang LAST year?

He wasn't ON Hawaii last year. He was rotting at home until the CFL called him up.

Oh and it's not really a system. Chang was never close to breaking the all-time TD record, but he DID break the all-time INT record (he threw 80 of them!)

December 23, 2007  09:25 PM ET

Good call EH and Bio. Brennan may or may not have a future in the NFL, but as EH said, "58 TD's is 58 TD's"

December 23, 2007  09:26 PM ET

Yeah that 3/4 stuff is different and ill-advised. If he would play better teams he would be eating a lot of those passes. He also throws off of his back foot which is not good. I like Hawaii, but I don't think he is anywhere near all of the hype.

December 23, 2007  09:43 PM ET

Well Young played these so called "better" teams with his 3/4 release and it sure as hell didn't do any bad to him. . .

In fact he's one of the only QBs in history to pass for 3000 and rush for 1000 isn't he?

Besides, it's not about Brennan not playing "better" teams, it's about those "better" teams not wanting to play Hawaii. They're afraid; no sensible team wanted to deal with that offense.

December 23, 2007  09:57 PM ET

And Guys like I said he is not bad, but the best ever?????

December 24, 2007  02:40 AM ET

Its not just stats that make one the greatest.
For example the QB at Texas Tech has the best statistics in the Big 12 but there is a reason Chase Daniels still got the heisman nomination. Bradford is also better. At best the T-tech guy is 3rd best and I lean towards the QB at Kansas at 3rd best in big 12.

He is not the best ever. Although he worked that system brilliantly

December 24, 2007  08:11 AM ET

How can you guys judge this guy if you don't watch him play. You can't tell diddly about someone from stats and high lights alone. HIs numbers alone ranks him with the best college QB's of all time and all this B.S. about hawaii not playing anybody is a bunch of bull to. No school wanted to play Hawaii, even the big bad SEC who's always looking for the free ride to the BCS games wouldn't play Hawaii this year.

December 26, 2007  10:43 PM ET

Nobody plays Hawaii because nobody wants to travel there; it'd cut most teams' practice week in half! Also, they've shown just as much reluctance in coming over to the mainland so their complaints are falling on deaf ears. At first I was upset about the Sugar Bowl match up (either UGA wins and proves nothing against a team people were already suspect about, or they lose to a WAC opponent with no credible wins), but now I'm really glad they're coming to play Georgia. Finally, a real BCS team will destroy them and put all this hype to rest. Then next year they'll get destroyed by Florida and everybody will smack themselves on the head and shout, "My God, what was I thinking back then?"
And about Brennan, he wasn't even the best QB this year.
