Pack man said 12/24, 12:19 PM
Mike McCarthy, hands down, the guy came into the Green Bay Packers organization with an ok offense and a bad defense and turned them around at the end of the season last year to finish off 8-8 for a chance to go into the playoffs, now he has created a great coaching staff and is a tremendous scouter creating a great defense and has brung many talents to the Green Bay Packers helping them to a 12-3 record this year.
st*rainman*sssc* said 12/24, 12:31 PM
Im going to go with Brad Childress from the Vikings.Yea I know they are only 8-7 but really this team probably shouldnt be.He has a well below average qb to go with a bad group of recievers. He has a defense that had been horrible for years and kind of turned it around. He knows how to use what he has.He doesnt send his qb to throw 30 times a game and doesnt make his horrible secondary play single coverage all game long. This team was I believe 4-6 and have turned it around up until last night. He has his players playing hard and they know what to do now as aposed to early in the year.As far as the Packers I agree McCarthy has done a great job but he had Brett farve and excellent young receivers. The defense has been much improved but is also more experienced now.
Pack man said 12/24, 12:38 PM
Yes, He had Brett Favre but note this down, Brett was doing horrible before McCarthy came in and the only offensive weapon Brett had before McCarthy came in Was Green and Driver, McCarthy has brought together a group of WR's to the Packers that people are now calling the "FAB 5" McCarthy brought in WR's Greg Jennings Koren Robinson Ruvell Martin and James Jones along with RB Ryan Grant in place of Green this man has an eye for talent and has brought the future HOF QB Brett Favre back into his prime with a 1 round bye in the playoffs.
st*rainman*sssc* said 12/24, 12:49 PM
The only people calling there receivers the fab 5 would be pack fans because thats the first ive heard it.He has done a great job in Green Bay but he came in and already had his qb,his number 1 receiver, most of hi line and young talent on the defensive side of the ball.Childress comes in and his qb is Brad Johnson,he had one rb,he has no receivers,he has one of the worst overal defences out there.Yet he found a way to coach this team to a possibe wildcard spot.He finds teams weaknesses and somehow finds a way to win games with a very low talented team.He uses his running game better than anyone. He puts the games in the peoples hands that he knows will come through.he brought in Peterson who will be the next great rb.They may not be 12-3 but they have gone from a doormat to a threat in half a season.
Pack man said 12/24, 01:01 PM
There wasn't much to the defense until McCarthy came in actually he brought multiple talent to Green Bay such as CB Charles Woodson S Atari Bigby LB A.J. Hawk which pretty much put the glue on the Defense for DB's, but he relys on the run game too much and against a good defense Peterson sometimes gets no where. McCarthy turned their not to be seen run game into some great and aquired a great RB Ryan Grant after their Ahman Green loss.
st*rainman*sssc* said 12/24, 01:07 PM
As far as the Grant trade that was a good but lucky move.As a giants fan I didnt want to see him go but they traded for him thinking he could be a good spell back not the guy.ILL give you the fact that Peterson gets stuffed sometimes but when he does Taylor usually comes through. Also you only coach to your strengths.Childress is in his first full year and hasnt exactly had time to get some other players in yet.You are forced to run the ball when you have a very young average qb.Also if you remember the vikes defense like i said is horrible but there run defense has turned around in a huge way.Give him one more year and this team will compete with Greenbay. Also the coach isnt always the guy to bring in the talent.

Gary Kubiac in Houston, Min is good b/c they have AP, and GB was AWFUL last year, so don't give the guy love for one good season.
Kubiac has brought respect to Houston. This is a young team that will be good for years to come.

Kubiac is a good choice, but no one at the beginning of the season saw Green Bay doing what they are doing right now. Sure, last season saw a four-game improvement in the standings... and they have already done the same this year with one game left to play. This progressive growth is laudable, and definitely wins him the honor...

ummm i WANT to go with childress. he doesnt have the talent that the pack has, and they are doing very well without it. but the pack were a bit off kilter before McCarthy stepped in and righted the ship, and his two season record beats childress's so the vote goes to packman.

McCarthy has been good but I think alot of us saw Greenbay as a possible contender.Remember they won i think there last 4 games last year and it relayed to this year.I think overall he has alot more talent. Also Miny isnt good only because of Peterson.Remember they have proven to run as well as win without him.

call me a homer lynch, but I wouldn't have picked McCarthy if he wasn't the best choice.

Mike Tomlin took over a superbowl caliber team when he came in.He had a probowl qb,rb,wr and a top 5 defense. He took a dream job when he got this

Tomlin didn't turn-around anything. But he has lead the Steelers to a much better season than anyone expected. Unfortunately, I think the train is coming off the tracks very soon. But not because of Tomlin.

MIKE TOMLIN!!!!
He is the total package as a coach. Good mix between pass and throw. McCarthy is way to pass happy. As much as i love Childress he is not a head coach. His home is as an offensive cordinator

At the start of the NFL season, all the blogs I saw had the Steelers at .500 or so. I saw nobody but Steelers homers predicting this kind of season.

If not Tomlin, how about Romeo Crennell?

Crennell ok I think he has potential and has got the offense to be good and I mean GOOD, but the defense for the Brows right now is horrible.

chemical, McCarthy is pass happy because that is their main weapon but now they leveled it out with their new RB Ryan Grant who didn't even start till week 8.

Childress and McCarthy are both great Coaches, good debate rainman, and I'm sure by next year Childress will have the Vikings most likely complete.

you too packan but hawkeye everyone knew that big ben would bounce back and they still had a great defense. It was not surprise to see them play well this year.Actually im shocked that they have struggled so much of late which shows again maybe he doesnt deserve the credit as much.crennell has has been good but like pack man said no defense at all.And hes had a couple of years to get that.
