Throwdown Champs Finals: Choose one NBA player to build a team for the future around

Rules:
1st arguement: name player
2nd and 3rd arguement: argue
player must be currently playing

Ok my player is.....

LEBRON JAMES!!!

How am I supposed to argue with LeBron James?

Well, I guess my only other option is Dwight Howard.

Okay.... I thought you would choose a guard like Nash or Paul but this works too. Lebron is a good all-around player while Howard only scores and rebounds. Lebron led his team to the finals last year when Howard led his team where? To a record of 40-42. Lebron scores more and passes much better. Howard obviously rebounds better but Lebron rebounds very well for a small foward. Lebron also has much less help on his team than Howard who has R. Lewis, H. Turkoglu, and J. Nelson. James has who? Donyell Marshall? Larry Hughes? Exactly, Lebron has much less help. They are about the same age so they will both help teams for a long time. Lebron is just much more clutch which he has proved while Howard has never proven to be clutch. Howard is great, don't get me wrong, but Lebron is better!

1. You build sucessful franchises around big men. Shaq and Duncan have won virtually every championship since Jordan retired. Dwight is the next best big, and will only get better.

2. Dwight may not score as much as LeBron, but Dwight shoots 62% to LeBrons 48%. Plus Dwight outrebounds him by about 7 a game. And he is an anchor for their defense with his shot blocking ability.

3. There are plenty of talented swingmen, their are very few big men out their. Especially at 22yrs old.

1. yes you bring franchises around big men, but... has Howard led his team anywhere? NO!!! Has Lebron led his team anywhere? YES!!! Yes, big men make it easier to be good but you definetly don't need one to be good.
2. Dwight has better fg% because he only shoots lay ups. Anyway, Dwight is outrebounding everyone now, he gets 8 more rebounds than Shaq. He gets 6 more rebounds than Duncan. Lebron can also block shots.
3. Yes there are lots of swingman, but how many of them are amazing and less than 25 years old. Not so many.... everyone thinks good big men are so rare but there are actually lots of them. Duncan, Howard, Stoudamire, Shaq, O'neal, Wallace, KG, etc. My point is that there are also plenty of good big men. Lebron can play every position except for center pretty much. He scores more, he is a much better passer, and is a worse rebounder but is still a good rebounder in general. Imagine if Lebron could play with the guys Howard is playing with! Imagine how good he'd be with Lewis and Turkoglu and Nelson! That team would be amazing! Lebron has proven that he can lead teams by himself and that he is clutch. Howard has never proven either of these!!!

1. LeBron had it pretty easy last year as the East was extremely weak. He faced some mediocore teams at best on their way to the Finals. And besides, LeBron has had an extra year in the league...

2. Okay... So you helped my argument by pointing out how great a rebounder Dwight is. And centers are supposed to stay near the basket, thats their job. He is still 2nd in fg%. And he outblocks LeBron 2.6 to 1.2...

3. Plenty of good big men? None of those big guys you mentioned are under 25 either... Plus you mentioned 6 guys. I could name you about 30 swingmen that are pretty good. And LeBron's team is 13-16 so far this year since the upgraded East. Meanwhile Dwight has his team sitting at #2 in the East.

good luck!

You thought I would chose Nash?

He's like 35. Why would I build around someone as old as him?

i didnt actually mean Nash, I meant like a good PG like Paul

Majority of successful franchises have one thing in common...A dominant Big man.

Yes, big men make it easier to be good but you definetly don't need one to be good

lets run down the top teams in the league(according to team records):
1: Celtics - KG
2: Spurs - Duncan
3: Piston - An exception since Starting lineup from top to bottom are filled with All Star players and veteran leadership. WIth Big man Rasheed Wallace, a former All Star.
4: Suns - Amare Stoudemire
5: Mavericks - Nowitski

Magic - 18 -11
Cavs - 13-16

Orlando is doing way better than the Cavs so far this year, and the Cavs have better supporting cast (Gooden, Hughes, Gibson, A.V.) I cant even name anyone else on the Magic.

how could Dwight prove to be clutch a dunk at the buzzer? lol hes a big hes not taking jumpers like lebron so its almost impossible for him to be "clutch"
