pick 1st - argue 2nd and 3rd

Joe Namath

You know, I know it's early and all, and it just happened, but I gotta say Mike Vick.

lol this is gunna be a fun one, Namath sparked alot of controversy in his era, from having alcohol problems to owning bars that held illegal bets and gambling, from pantyhose commercials to promises of winning games such as Super Bowl lll, and recieive play from president Nixon, When told to Shutdown one of his bars by the NFL Namath chose his popular bar over his NFL career, 6 weeks later Namath changed his mind and came back to the Jets. Not just one controversial piece but many from the one and only Broadway Namath

Not only did he wear the panthose in the commercial, but how do you think he won the Super Bowl? Anyway, Mike Vick's gotta be it because I mean, when the incident happened, people were already judging him, pickiting his action. They were signs that said "Sack Vick", and signs that said "I support Vick". The game when the Falcons faced the Saints, I was surprised to see so many Mike Vick jerseys because of all the Sack Vick signs. The players even got involved. After Roddy White scored a TD for the Falcons, he pulled up his jersey and had an undershirt the said Free Vick. Those players involved got fined by the way. You know its controversial when the players and the League are in a disagreement, and when the whole U.S. is involved with this issue. Because most Americans own a dog, or hate dogs, or do what Mike Vick did.

Namath had personal, relationship, career, and problems with his fans from painkillers, alcohol, gambling and womanizing, after all those years I remember he appeared at a jets game a couple of years ago Drunk and hitting on the reporter, the guy never stops, Vick's case is just a sad story of a bad choice and he admits it as the media shoves it down our throats, A movie is even coming out about Namath in 2009 about his controversial life, I don't think vick is controversial enough to get a movie made about him.

The key word in your first sentence is "fans", The Mike Vick controversy involves the whole country, because, like I said, most Americans own dogs, and most Americans have different opinions on Vick, about Vick, and what they should've done with Vick. And painkillers, alcohol, gambling, don't even compare do killing things that have a pulse, things that are called "man's best friend". Vick's controversial story hasn;t ended yet, and will continue for years on.

OJ

December 26, 2007  11:54 PM ET

No, because everyone but the jury and the judge think he's guilty

December 26, 2007  11:57 PM ET

T.O.

December 27, 2007  12:00 AM ET

T.O. is just full of himself, he curses and acts like a kid if he doesn't play well or doesn't get the ball enough, that's why he's not on the Eagles anymore, not that controversial

he's is good though,

amen

December 27, 2007  12:05 AM ET

I'm with Jim L. There really isn't any argument against it.

December 27, 2007  12:07 AM ET

controversial- giving rise or likely to give rise to public disagreement.

December 27, 2007  12:12 AM ET

what event involving and NFL player was more cntroversial than the OJ trial, and his book that he tried to publish?

December 27, 2007  12:13 AM ET

Here's a list:
OJ
TO
Namath
Vick
Roy Williams (horse collar)
Ray Lewis (early on in his career)
Haynesworth (stomping on a head)

December 27, 2007  12:17 AM ET

i wouldn't put Haynesworth on ther, it was an isolated incident. One player that hasn't been mentioned eventhough he is more of a lunatic than controversial is Romanowski.

December 27, 2007  12:19 AM ET

Where's Bill Romanoski in all this?

December 27, 2007  12:24 AM ET

Haynesworth is an all-pro type player, but his career is forever tainted because of the "Head Stomp"

December 27, 2007  12:25 AM ET

1 controversial thing that the media keeps shoving down our throats, yes he killed dogs, and any right minded person is against this, but the story is dying down. Namath on the other hand has been controversial since the 60's.

December 27, 2007  12:27 AM ET

His career might be linked to that but he still doesn't even crack the to 50 for this topic.

December 27, 2007  12:30 AM ET

And as far as I'm concerned among active players nobody is more of a disgrace than Leonard Little.

December 27, 2007  12:30 AM ET

let the votes begin, eh?

Both could be described as "disgusting" but their deeds are completely on different scales. Same goes for the controversial description - the win is determined by interpretation of the voter.

Rod Caruth... he played for Carolina Panthers and paid a hitman to take out his pregnant girlfriend. Screws dogs (not really) but this was a HIT on a preganant women
