1.Georgia Bulldogs
2.Oklahoma Sooners
3.USC Trojans
4.LSU
5.Mizzou Tigers

1. Ohio State (returning 19 of 22 starters from this season)
2. Oklahoma
3. USC
4. Georgia
5. Florida

These are in no particular order by the way
1.Georgia Bulldogs - Down the stretch, after the Vandy game, Georgia showed major life with a excellent celebration in the UF game, putting 42 points against the Gators and stuffing Tim Tebow. They average 37 points a game the last 5 games and fresman Knowshon Moreno showed that he is more than capable to hang with the big boys. They are NCAA's hottest team in the country right now and got snubbed from the National Title this year, they prove that next year
2. Oklahoma Sooners - With freshman D Murray, and returning starters on Defense, along with Sam Bradford, Oklahoma will show that the Sooners are still the power house that they once were
3.USC Trojans - Always in the mix
4.LSU - With Ryan P. taking relm, and defense returning 85% of their starters, I expect the Tigers to return to the Top 5 in total defense and top 15 in Total offense
5. Mizzou - They return 97% of their players from this year and are expected to exceed expectations they reached this year also. They have motivation on their side from not only missing the National Title by one game, but getting snubbed out of the BCS

Well I don't really see any reason to talk about Oklahoma, USC or Georgia. We agree on those 3, so lets talk about the ones we don't agree on.

LSU- Had 7 games this season decided by 1 possession, now they are losing their best all around player in Dorsey, their starting QB, their best RB/FB in Hester (1017 yards rushing 11TD), as well as their top WR. In all LSU has 20 Seniors on their roster.

Mizzou- Showed that they had NO business in this discussion when Oklahoma wiped the field with them not once but twice. Now their QB wants to declare for the NFL, NO WAY they make another run in 08.

Now my teams
Florida- Not only do they return the Heisman winner of a year ago, but they return most of the rest of their team as well, they only have 13 seniors on the entire roster. This was a team that had 3 games decided by 1 possession this year, they lost 2 of them which is a sign of a young team.

Ohio State- Well they have gotten a bid in the title game the past 2 seasons, now they have up to 19 of 22 starters returning, meanwhile Illinois star RB just declared for the NFL, and Michigan loses their big 3. The Bucks have some great young guys on the bench as well.

Well if Chase really did opt out for the NFL draft (i thought he said he was returning, along with a majority of the team) then I will take Mizzou out. But if he stays, I keep them. They had 2 bad games this year, they knocked off Kansas. They have the fire power to repeat their performance next year. LSU always has a good defense followed by a decent offense, especially with Les Miles continually confirming that "I AM THE HEAD COACH OF THE LSU TIGERS". He will always pull in great recruits. As for FLA, I don't see them in the National Title Picture, BCS Bowl, yes, but not a National Title picture. Tebow had a once in a life time season this year, and given the recruiting class of UGA (#2 in the nation) and the rise of Miss State, Auburn getting a strong recruiting class, FLA will have a tough time making it undefeated or even a 1 loss team at that. OSU, well I guess I can agree with that. They are a pretty strong team, and with that many starters coming back, they could very well make a run, ALTHOUGH, I do not see them being a dead lock, as they got in by sheer luck this year.

Ok you say there are too many good teams in the SEC so Florida is a bad pick, yet you back LSU also in the SEC. LSU isn't going to have a bad team next year, but losing your best runner, a top pick in the draft and your QB you can't expect to repeat.

Ohio State in the title game this year had NOTHING to do with luck. People's complaints are that they had an easy schedule. Guess what? Other then Penn State the rest of the Big 10 just got worse. If anything it will be an easier road a year from now.

BSchwartz hit it right on the nose Tim Tebow

December 30, 2007  04:12 PM ET

actually Florida has a lot more than just Tebow going for them, but I'll save it for the argument.

Georgia will be at least a top ten, very possibly a top five, but they will not have the talent to be the best team.

i wasn't putting them in order

bit of advice, if you don't want to put them in order don't put numbers next to the team's names.

Schwartz. Shame on you backing a SEC team!

not 1 but 2

Barring some blowout in the bowl games (don't care about games within 14 points)

1 and 2 - OSU and USC (not certain of the order) - They play each other early. Pollsters like to see big game matchups and they like their decisions made on the field
3- Oklahoma
4- Florida
5- could be any from a very long list of teams. Expect the bowl performance to have a lot to do with which team fits in here
VT, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri just to name a few

Oh, and before Georgia cries about being snubbed...
they 1st need to figure out how to win the SEC east
then figure out how to win the SEC
then figure out how to convert an 8 game home schedule that is the easiest conference schedule in the SEC east into a 1 or no loss season (played the 2 lowest teams from the SEC west)
...because there is no title handed out for being the best team for half a season

I actually liked BSchwartz07 putting UGa in his top 5...

...narrowed his argument to OSU and Florida vs LSU and Missouri - made his life a lot easier
