I say its a Good Move.

Kiki Vandeweghe brought the doormat team of the 90's to respectablity in 2k and beyond. He made some major switches to bring credibility to Denver. Andre Miller, Earl Boykins, Jon Barry can all thank Kiki.

But he made bigger moves in Drafting Nene and Carmelo Anthony. Carmelo being the face of the Nuggets (now denver has two stars in Melo and AI) and landing the Jordan Brand endorsement. Carmelo has a promising future and even spurred a jersey change in Denver (i like the nugget threads). Kiki brought in Kenyon Martin from the Nets. He also was the man that got Marcus Camby in Denver.

Current Nuggets Carmelo Anthony, Nene, Marcus Camby, Kenyon Martin... basically the Nuggets can thank Kiki Vandeweghe for making Denver a post season threat.

Good Move by the New Jersey Nets for hiring him, he will help mold the Nets into a better team.

Playoff threat? If you call 6 or 7 seed a playoff threat, I guess. He never got good coaches to Denver until hiring George Karl, and when the Nuggets really started improving, Kiki was talking basketball on ESPN. You can't credit Kiki for bringing in AI because he was gone at the moment. That move is what changed the Nuggets. Kenyon Martin was a good move, but health is always an issue with him, and he's nowhere near as good as counterparts like Carlos Boozer, Amare Stoudamire, Tim Duncan, and Dirk Nowitzki. Nene and Camby also have health problems, and Carmelo can't play defense. Basically, Kiki made Denver a contender, but New Jersey is already a contender. But a threat? Denver's not a threat! Dallas, San Antonio, Phoenix, and Utah (if they can get back to winning in January) are threats. Denver's not getting past any of them!

They went from the worst team in the NBA to a playoff team. Thats what i meant by threat, that they are the team that knocked out Portland or Seattle for that last playoff spot. They took it from utah in 2003.

I never gave credit to Kiki for coach George Karl or Allen Iverson. I never said that, you cant even say i implied it because i never mentioned there names!!! Where do you come up with that assumption?

I never said K Mart is as good as Boozer and the rest of the league like your saying. Maybe kid you were not watching basketball in the 90's. Thats when the nuggets sucked. They had Antonio Mcdyess, Nick Van Exel. They just never had chemistry. They were really bad for a long time, then Kiki came in and changed that.

Why didnt you mention Carmelo Anthony, maybe its because Kiki had everything to do with drafting him. Even nene. I never said that Denver is getting past Utah or any other team for that matter. I just said that Denver will make the playoffs, they have and they will continue to do so.

Yes, but is making the playoffs good enough? The Nets already do that every season. They already have talented players. And I know you never mentioned George Karl, so I brought up something new, about lack of good Denver coaches in Kiki's run as GM of Denver. It's not like he's gonna make the Nets get past Boston or Detroit anytime soon. The Nets are already a decent team, but I don't think they'll go to the next level because of Kiki. And how did you know I was a kid?

Just because the Nets are already a good team doesn't mean they cant get better. Maybe you dont understand the professional sports are a business and they want to win more games, eventually the title. So in the NBA that would be to win the Finals and win the Larry O'Brian trophy.

So its a good move to hire Kiki.

We dont know why he was fired in the first place. We dont know if it was in his plans to get a new coach as well, it actually happened pretty quickly after kiki left.

New Jersey is a good team yes, but they have problems too. Jason Kidd is always being rumoured of leaving and why is that you ask, because he is not happy with the team. They really need some upfront help. Kristac and Collins just are not getting it done (being sarcastic).

The other east teams have improved alot over the last few years since the Nets have been to the finals. The Pistons, Cavs, and Celtics are all better then the Nets. Same with Orlando and Toronto, so changes need to be made and Kiki Vandeweghe is the man for the job.

Oh I know all about how pro sports are treated as a business. I think Vandeweghe is just another GM out there who's not that great, but not that bad either. I just don't think he'll improve the Nets with new players. What the Nets really need to do is coach the talent they have better. The talent is there. It's not the GM's problem. It's the coaching staff at this point. If Vandeweghe can get the coaching staff in order, you've proven me wrong, but until then, I stand by what I've said in this throwdown that I'm about to lose, but refuse to forefeit!

I never understood why the Nuggets let him get away in the first place.

Vote for Joe.
