Everyone always does the "best RB tandem" throwdowns. I haven't seen this one yet. All three RBs must have at least 75 carries on the season.
The Oakland Raiders had three RBs to rush for multiple 100+ yard games this year. All three also had back-to-back 100+ yard performances. Justin Fargas led the team with 1009 yards in just seven starts. Jordan started the first 7 games, before losing his job to Fargas, and finished the season with 549 yards. Dominic Rhodes started the final two games and made the most of his opportunity rushing for 100+ yards in both starts. He finish with 302 yards on the season. The three combined for 1,860 yards on the season.

I'll go with the trio of Giants running backs, Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward, and Reuben Droughns.
Here's a comparison of the production from all 3:
Fargas, Jordan, Rhodes: 1860 yards, 441 attempts, 4.21 yards per carry, 8 TDs
Jacobs, Ward, Droughns: 1886 yards, 412 attempts. 4.58 yards per carry, 13 TDs
While the yardage totals were similar, the Giants trio averaged over .3 yards per carry better. My trio also scored more than yours did.
The Giants don't exactly have a great O line either. They aren't sending any offensive linemen to the pro bowl this year.

FYI, the Raiders aren't sending any O lineman to the Pro Bowl either.
Nice find though with the Giants.
As you noted the stats are very similar.
I give the edge to the Raiders since the Giants have a respectable passing game to compliment the running game.
The Raiders go against 8 in the box a whole lot more since they don't have a big play threat like Plaxico Burress to keep defenses from crowding the LOS.
Fargas was 3rd in the league in rushing during his seven game stretch as the starter. Dominic Rhodes led the league during his two weeks starting and LaMont Jordan was 2nd in the league through his first 4 starts before he hurt his back.

Brandon Jacobs gained over 1000 yards rushing and missed 5 games of the season too. If you project Jacobs' stats out over 16 games he would have 1467 rushing yards, landing barely behind LT for the rushing title.
Ward played in just 8 games this season but managed to get close to 600 rushing yards. Project those stats over the course of an entire season, and Ward would have 1200 yards, putting him at 10th in the NFL.
I will acknowledge that the Raiders passing offense is worse than the GIants, but the statistics still clearly show that the Giants trio was much better than that of the Raiders.

Fargas had the same amount of yards, 1009, in just seven starts.
He was basically a non-factor through 3.5 games before Jordan went down. That's when he went off for 178 yards in the 2nd half. He then carried the ball just 3 times over the next two weeks.
He picked up 61 yards on 12 carries the next game and then, finally, was named the starter. He went on to rush for 676 yards in his seven starts. Throw in his breakout performance and he averaged 109 yards per game in his 8 games in which he got significant action.
109 per game over 16 games (like what you did with Jacobs) is 1,744 yards rushing.
LaMont Jordan was one of the biggest surprises over the 1st 4 weeks. He started the season with 424 rushing yards through 3.5 games before his back injury. He was 2nd in the league through the first quarter of the season. Had it not been for Fargas' breakout season, LaMont Jordan could have returned when fully healthy and rushed for his 2nd 1000+ yard season in 3 years.
Dominic Rhodes didn't get much of a chance either behind Fargas but he did close out the season with back to back 100+ yard games against great run defenses in the Jags and Chargers.

Fargas' 100 yard rushing games came against the 19th, 28th, and 30th best rushing defenses in the league. His injury forced him to miss out on games against some of the tougher run defenses on the Raiders schedule, like Jacksonville and San Diego.
Jordan may have been good over the first 4 weeks of the season, but went against the 23rd, 27th, 30th, and 32nd best run defenses in the league. Sorry, but the Raiders have had an incredibly easy "rushing schedule".
The Giants play in a division that's extremely tough against the run. Each of the four teams in the NFC East ranks among the top 10 against the run.
The Giants RB have statistically had a better year, and went up against much harsher competition.

Give me a little time on this one. I'll need to do some research.

Report Offensive CommentI like this TD idea... good work, both of you. Hope the rest of the arguments are as well reasoned and thoughtful as the first from each of you! I will reserve my vote until you all have had your opportunity to appeal for your side...

Report Offensive Commentok well the gmen have a much better trio than the raiders. But the gmen do have an excellent offensive line.Running backs dont avg 5 yards a carry if they dont so im not voting on this even though it was a good idea

Report Offensive CommentbIGROCKHOGG comes back with a great rebuttal. While the stats lean toward the Giants, Oakland saw three different players gaining significant yards. Even Eli Manning is better than the quarterback carousel by the bay...
It begs the question: Would Oakland even have these three players with these stats if Jordan hadn't gotten hurt?

Report Offensive Commentill take the chargers over them any day! LT, Turner, and Sproles 1954 yds, 4.6 ypc (all avg over 4), 74 rec, 522 yds, 21 tds, 1376 return yards for 2 tds

Report Offensive CommentThe Raiders don't have a big play threat at WR. The Raiders' rookie TE had a solid season but he doesn't nearly get as much attention as Jeremy Shockey.
My point is that whenever one of the Raiders' RBs were on the field, they were the main target for the defense.

Report Offensive CommentBlue Devils... good choice, but neither Turner nor Sproles had the requisite minimum 75 carries to warrant qualification for consideration under the parameters of the TD...
Bigalke | 01/03/08, 12:42 AM
Report Offensive Commentso many teams are gonna go after turner this year. and sproles put up some good numbers this year in the return and receiving game, and he had that 1 amazing game rushing where he had like 126. 126 yds from my number 3? ILL TAKE IT ANY DAY!
#2 Blue Devils-Bolts-Suns | 01/03/08, 12:48 AM
Report Offensive CommentYes, I understand that, BD... personally, out of the two listed here and your Chargers, I would probably take the Bolts... but that doesn't change the fact that they don't count for the purposes of this argument. Turner had 71 carries; Sproles had < 40... so the bult of that impressive yardage comes from one of the trio.
Turner and Sproles have more potential than any of the six listed above, but this season they really weren't the best "trio"... I am waffling between the two options above, still, though...
Bigalke | 01/03/08, 12:52 AM
Report Offensive Commentbut sproles does the returns, and he actually had like 200 rec yds.
