I said it. Anybody who thinks that McNabb needs to go is dead wrong. (Unless a Peyton or Brady or even Roethlisberger become available) The whole Eagle's organization faltered this year. I want McNabb back, not Reggie Brown, not LJ Smith, not Winston Justice. I heard Reggie Brown had 15 more catches this year and averaged 3 less yards per catch. LJ just wasn't around this year. Justice, he sucks. Others like Reno Mahe and the joke of a return squad the Eagles had this year should either be cut or have their pay reduced. Everybody SEEMS to think that the Eagles need another star wide receiver plus Kolb as quarterback. I don't know about Kolb. I know he didn't beat out McNabb one game for the starting job, even when the season was essentially over. I know he never took a snap this year. People say Westbrook is the key to the offense, so if he goes down so do the Eagles. McNabb is just as vital. Get the team better as a whole, and we have the Eagles of the early 2000's.

By the way Phily is treating Donavon, he needs to go for his own personal self. And I think that could work out for the Eagles too. If you haven't noticed, after one year, people get one year older. Sometimes that's good, sometimes bad. In this case it's bad. Donavon is getting old, and is injury prone because it's impossible for him to go a whole season without getting hurt. If Kolb doesn't work out, get another QB just in case. The could get a veteran to show him the works. Not Donavon. And hell, get rid of Winston Justice and all those guys. If they're not a fit for Phily, then the Eagles should start rebuilding and build around Westbrook, even though he is also getting old. The Eagles just need some youth on their team, oh, and some talent which might fade if they keep signing people who are in their mid 30's.

Everyboyd who commented so far almost has it right. McNabb needs to smile. He had bad throws in the past, but at least his receivers caught it. When Pinkston didn't make a catch or let one go seemingly intentionally, he got booed and now is here he deserves to be, nowhere. McNabb has certainly tried, maybe he came back too early. Had the Eagles had a better start while letting McNabb heal and playing AJ, maybe we would all be hailing McNabb for taking us back to the NFC East title. He played very well starting against Dallas, and unfortunately the rest of the season's efforts up until then made that awesome win meaningless. You know how they beat Dallas? Teamwork. That was an amazing defensive game, and McNabb was the better QB. He has handled himself with class and, even as a white guy, I agreed with his comments about race being analyzed. He even handled those issues with class. Maybe he needs to step as a leader more.
Yes, I know he gets older. In fact, if you look at it that way, he is dying, too. Who wants a QB who is dying? Westbrook is dying, all the Eagles are dying. Even the poor cheerleaders are dying! Can't we get some healthy infants to play?
LYNCHisOUTtoGETyouONElastTIME said 01/03, 04:39 PM
He had his bad throws in the past and will have even more in the future. Like I said he's not getting younger, he's not getting faster, he's getting injury after injury. The list goes, and will continue to go on for this guy. The only way he can limit this list is if he gets out of Philly where he will be happier, where he'll be surrounded be playmakers that are wide receivers. And even if the Eagles do get some young talent in the draft for Donavon, I still think he'd prefer somewhere else just to start a new chapter in his career where he can start over. He hasn't won a championship yet, and I don't see him winning one if he's still in Philadelphia.
Duba said 01/03, 04:49 PM
This is my bottom line. Next season, in my opinion, should be the last year of the McNabb era. He deserves that chance. He came back fierce after a midseason injury this year. Don't forget, in the middle of his mediocrity, he passed for 5 TDs against the once promising Lions. Give McNabb one more season, try protecting him. Try getting him a good mix of veterans and youngsters to work with. Try doing the same on DEFENSE and SPECIAL TEAMS too. The Special Teams lost the game against GB (although I do go with the theory the team wins/loses the game, however you are only as strong as the weakest link). Get a backup or train your backups to be quality, in case he does go down. While your at it, get quality backups, as many as possible, for every position. What if Runyan goes down again? It won't matter who is at QB. It seems like the Eagles are hesitant at getting that star receiver again who wasn't home grown (i.e. TO). Give more options to the offense to protect your best weapon and give him a break. Build the team, don't rely on what you have. You have some pieces, the last three weeks they showed they had what it takes, but build on this, dont destroy, don't rely
LYNCHisOUTtoGETyouONElastTIME said 01/04, 02:35 PM
Why should next year be the last year, when all of us know that the Eagles won't do squat next year. Just start rebuilding right now and don't waste any time. Prepare Kevin Kolb to be the starter this up coming season, and maybe just in case draft a QB, or get a veteran in their to show him the ropes. McNabb is part of the problem in Philly, cause he, like the rest of the team, is getting older and most of them have reached their peak.

I don't know any philadelphia fans that would actually like to see McNabb leave. It seems that the media likes to put words in the mouths of the abundance of fans from maybe the views of a few radical know nothing fans.

Trust me Know it all. There are many, MANY citizens of Philadelphia who want McNabb gone. I have said it before, I worked in an office in Philadelphia where they would regularly debate such incredibly stupid things like whether or not Donovan McNabb was worse than Patrick Ramsey. They usually concluded that yes, he was.

McNabb took guys like Freddie Mitchell, Todd Pinkston, James Thrash, Greg Lewis, LJ Smith, Terrel Owens, Westbrook, and Staley to either the NFC Championship game or the Super Bowl for 4 straight years. I was rooting for him to make that touchdown run against New Orleans for hope for him alone. Unfortunately, he fumbled...however that did not lead to a turnover but credit Curtis for that hustle.

McNabb isn't the ONLY problem, that much is true. However, his b* tching and poor play don't help a lot.

LMFAO...
5 plays from 13-3? I highly doubt it.
And they were about 5 plays away from 3-13 as well. There were 4 separate plays they could have lost on in the Cowboys game alone.
Really, when you look at it, any team is 5 plays away from 5 more victories. The Cowboys would have beaten the Pats if they picked Tom Brady for a TD instead of one of his TD passes. They would have beaten the Eagles if Romo had connected on any of the 4 separate occasions he had Owens open deep for touchdowns (a common misconception; many people believe Lito Sheppard locked TO down during that game. He did NOT. Owens was open all over the field, but Romo couldn't get him the ball). And they would have beaten the Skins if they, maybe, broke a TD run for a score on a long play.
So the Cowboys were really 3 plays away from 16-0 according to your theory. See what I am saying?

Sorry but McNabb didn't sack himself. Everyone talks about Mcnabb's injury's but this whole team had a problem staying on the field. McNabb would've resigned Dante Stallworth probably would have at least tried to get Randy Moss. McNabb is not the GM nor, is he the coach. That would be one Andy Reid. Andy keeps drafting linemen in the 1st round, for what?

The game is won and lost in the trenches, so drafting linemen isn't a bad idea.
And last I checked, the Eagles only took one O-lineman in the last several years, and he has become a Pro Bowler (Shawn Andrews), so...

I would never say drafting linemen is a bad thing. Especially where they have been drafting. That is how you build and keep your team at the top. They drafted some WRs too but they didn't pan out. McNabb isn't the problem but his injuries aren't helping either. The franchise drafted Kolb because McNabb hasn't stayed on the field in so long. You can't pay someone like that to be injured.

Yeah, maybe McNabb needs to build a rapport with his receivers.
Notice, when he is healthy for "long" stretches, his WRs start to really emerge and everything looks good. Then he gets injured again, and everything goes down the drain. I mean, believe it or not, but QBs and WRs need to be always working on their mechanics and timing so the two see the same thing and can make changes to what they are doing without saying a word.
When your QB spends the entire off season rehabbing an injury, you can't build up that rapport.

Since Donovan hurt his knee he hasnt been the same, but hes coming back. That Pats- Eagles game was the best game I seen all season. I say they win that game if Donovan was healthy.

He is the biggest cry baby that any team has to deal with. He constantly throws his team under the bus. Two QBs came in in the last 2 years and ran this offense better than he did. He is inaccurate and inconsistent. He's not well liked in the locker room, people can't stand his family, and he acts like the team owes him something. He's always tried to seperate himself from the rest of the team. Again you have the national media involved who have no idea what is going on and decide to take Donovan's side. The defense carried the team. Terrell Owens is long gone and he is still whinging like a****. Who gives a **** that he got to 4 Championship and a Super Bowl. What are his records in those games? And the Eagles had the weakest schedule of any conference champion I've seen. He's the reason TO is in Dallas, becuase he wouldn't back him for a new contract, that is why TO lost it when it came to Donovan. The reason more people don't rip him is because the Eagles will limit their availability to any media outlet that criticizes Donovan. And the defense was surprisingly good in '07. Donovan was the one who would miss receivers in the red zone ruining drives and wasting Brian Westbrook's career. It's not the O-line's fault that Donovan runs himself into sacks because he doesn't want to throw down field. What kind of message does that sende to his receivers when their in 1-on-1 coverage down field and their QB won't throw them the ball. I'm not an irrational Philiadelphian. I have seen someone get too much credit because people feel bad or him. The truth is 98% of the problems he had in this city were brough on by himself or his loud mouth mother. He compares himself to Peyton Manning Brett Favre and Tom Brady like he's on the same level they are, but only brings them up when things aren't going great, but when he's doing good, he is the best in the league.

Dude, mm, I hope you really don't think Mike McMahon ran the offense better than Donovan. Last year, Garcia stepped in, the team played as they should...AS A TEAM. I guess the other QB you are referring to was AJ. Yeah, he ran the offense better in 2 straight losses. I don't care who they were playing. Had he not thrown an int for a TD, the Eagles would have beat them. Westbrook does like a 60 yard return during the next game with Seattle, a far less superior team than the Patriots. Then AJ throws his fourth nail in the coffin INT rather than letting the magical Westbrook carry it in, set up a game tying field goal or possibly score the game winning TD. What happened when Donovan was ready to play? He finished out the season, almost beating the Playoff bound Giants then winning the last few games of the year. Yes he had spotty play before that, but he showed what resting an injured star QB could do for him once he retook the field.

See that Lynch? There are about 250,000 mm881102's in Philadelphia. AJ Feeley can throw 4 INT's in a game, something McNabb has not done in his CAREER, and they will still stick their head so far up Feeley's rear that they can't see sunlight.

Goodell wants Mario as #2 WR | 01/03/08
That's only if you believe the vociferous louts who listen to Cataldi on talk radio and believe what he says. There are some Eagles fans who don't read T&R and think Nabby should go to Chicago, Minny, or Miami.
I say give him one more year at least to prove he's back from the injury. With the right balance of pass and rush (60/40%) McNabb could be a threat again. But Reid needs to stop being so chintzy and go out and get another offensive weapon so everyone can stop focusing on stopping Westbrook.
