2005 BCS bowl games...

Fiesta
(4)Ohio State vs. (6)ND (Two historically great schools, large traveling fan bases. Yeah the game wasn't close but it was a great matchup.) Score= OSU-34 ND-20

Sugar
(11)West Virginia vs. (7)Georgia (West Virginia had to win in order to prove the Big East belonged after Pitt's embarassing loss the year before to Utah. They were leading big , but Georgia rallied and in the end, almost got the ball back, but a fake punt run sealed their fate.) Score= WVA-38 GA-35

Orange
(3)PSU vs. (22) FSU (This bowl game was one of the greatest coaching matchups in history. JoePa vs. Bobby B. PSU though was a team that was one second from being undefeated, while FSU limped into the ACC title game, and upset VT to make a BCS run w/ 4 losses. JoePa vs. Bobby B. Well in the first 3OT game in BCS history the Nittany Lions prevailed) Score= PSU-26 FSU-23

Rose
(1) USC (2)Texas (The only two undefeated all year long, started out at 1 & 2 and combined had 3 Heisman finalists. So much hype was about Bush and Leinart, but Young prevailed in the end, ending the title machine at USC in the best BCS championship game ever. Score= UT-41 USC-38

2005=Best BCS games ever!

Ill accept this not to argue your point but to ask the question of who really cares? The 2005 BCS games were the best in the first decade of the BCS. Thats ok and all but it means absolutley nothing.
Explain to me the relevance of those 4 games have on college football today. None. Have any games besides that Rose Bowl have any long term signifiacance? NO. Penn State beat Florida State in a poorly played 3OT game that put me to sleep, Im a Penn State fan. So the 3OTs look good on paper, but the game itself sucked.
Truth is like all other Bowl Games outsides of the Title game even BCS bowls mean nothing but a higher payout than non-BCS bowls, thats it.
So if people actually care that 2005 provided the best slate of BCS games by all means vote for the other guy, but if you realize that none of those games mean anything now and that this is a useless topic than vote for me.

Well i dont know what to say, because umm you are not arguing the point. And Texas derailing USC? Huge impact on all of college football. JoePa bringing the Lions back to revelance with an Orange Bowl win? Huge for the program of PSU

Forfeited Turn

Ok well this guy forfeited teh turn anyway so let me continue my argument that i accidentally sent without finishing. so PSU and Texas had huge after effects from their victories. and OSU used that win to springboard into the preseason #1 rankings of the next year. and WVA beating GA had no impact? are you kidding? because of them the Big East ahs shown they deserve their BCS spot, when it was threatened it would be taken away.. three straight Big East BCS bowl victories later, what would have been the impact of them losing? that game as well as that slate in 05 was huge for college football.

Not cool. Accept to argue the topic of the throwdown. Not whatever you want.

Idiot.

"Ill accept this not to argue your point..."

I can't think of a worse way to start your argument.

D-Wade, Go F*** yourself

I'm sure he will if he can find time once he is done f***ing your mom fightins.

Wow, you were just absolutely owned by Bigdleech. Thanks, Bigdleech.

And I'm not the one ruining perfectly good throwdowns. Plus, I was just giving you advice. If you start your argument by saying "I'll accept this not to argue your point.." the rest people see is blah, blah, blah. They don't care what you say and they won't vote for you.

Your welcome.

You can't argue with the fact that college football has grown exponentially these past five years. WIth an unbelievably exciting set of games like that, it really wasn't a surprise at all to see so many new fans. I guess the argument you could have is have all the new fans become positive or negative for the essence of the sport? It is clear to me that the TV is starting to take over what the college football world does.

oh man i pressed etner by accident. i wasnt done with my argument..

Just write in the comments section, Anthony.

Why do people accept throwdowns like this and then don't even try to argue? Don't accept a td if u won't even fight, because most likely someone else will.

January 6, 2008  04:25 PM ET

I would've said the 1999 (might've been 2000) but Weinke vs. Vick, and there was another really good game that year..too lazy to look it up...
