Tops on Mizzou's wish list

07:53 AM ET 04.18 | In a way, Missouri fans' wishes have come true, as it appears Frank Haith may ride of to Tulsa -- so, now what? Top of the wish list ... Gregg Marshall, Wichita State: Tops nearly every list over the past two years by building the Shockers into a national power. Marshall seems satisfied in Wichita, and his bigger temptation may be when one of the blue-blood jobs open. ... Shaka Smart, VCU: Marshall may have taken from Smart the title of most coveted coaching candidate, but Smart has been seen as a coup hire since taking the Rams to the 2011 Final Four. ... Archie Miller, Dayton: Miller is hot, hot, hot after leading the Flyers to this year's Elite Eight. ... Chris Mack, Xavier: Mack, who has taken Xaiver to four NCAA Tournaments in five years, is often associated with job openings.

Dantonio wants 50K for spring game

07:52 AM ET 04.18 | Even if earlier this week Pat Narduzzi took a shot at Michigan State's defensive performance this spring, Mark Dantonio wants fans to come out and watch -- a lot of fans. "I want to see 50,000 at the Green and White game," Dantonio said. "I think that's where this program needs to go." The annual Green and White game takes place at 2 p.m. April 26 at Spartan Stadium. A quick peek ahead at the extended weather forecast shows the temperature is expected to be 70 degrees and partly cloudy with a very small chance of precipitation. ... "I think there's so many variables that go into a spring game attendance," [AD Mark Hollis] Hollis said. "I know the enthusiasm's there, I think that was reflected out in Pasadena (Calif.). But if it's pouring rain, I don't think we'll have 50,000, but we might."

Weis names a new QB at Kansas

07:51 AM ET 04.18 | Congratulations are in order for Montell Cozart. Five days after Cozart earned offensive MVP honors in the annual spring game, KU coach Charlie Weis officially named him the Jayhawks' starting quarterback. Cozart, a sophomore from Bishop Miege, led the Blue team to a 20-10 victory while completing six of 10 passes for 58 yards. He also rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns in seven carries. Cozart beat out senior Jake Heaps and sophomore transfer T.J. Millweard for the starting job. Heaps had a solid spring, according to coaches, but he struggled to move the first-team offense during the spring game. "After the completion of post spring ball evaluations and individual player meetings, I met with the offensive staff and we have decided to name Montell Cozart our starting quarterback," Weis said in a statement.

Five-man race to lead WVU's offense

07:50 AM ET 04.18 | To West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen's credit, he made good on his August guarantee not to rotate two quarterbacks through the 2013 season. He rotated three quarterbacks instead. Paul Millard and Ford Childress each started twice before Clint Trickett took the reins and rode out the remainder of the rocky 4-8 season. The trio's pedestrian play added up to 3,145 passing yards, 16 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Now after adding junior-college transfer Skyler Howard and freshman William Crest, West Virginia will have five potential quarterback options entering fall camp. This time, with a date with Alabama looming Aug. 30, expect Holgorsen to stick to his guns. "We're going to have to come up with a plan to narrow it down," Holgorsen said. "We're going to have to figure out who the guy is and give him all the reps."

Exactly one QB left at Texas Tech

07:49 AM ET 04.18 | It isn't every day that a walk-on walking away from a program makes news. Then again, Texas Tech's quarterback situation hasn't exactly been normal lately. Walk-ons Tanner Tausch and Mike Richardson are leaving the program, according to various media reports, leaving Davis Webb as the only quarterback on the roster. Tausch, who ran the second team during Saturday's spring game, is planning to stay at the school and focus on academics, while Richardson is departing for a team where he can better compete for playing time, according to a Lubbock Avalanche-Journal report. Tausch and Richardson's departures make it an eyebrow-raising five quarterbacks who have left the program in the past six months. Only two (Michael Brewer and Clayton Nicholas) were on scholarship and two (Brewer and Baker Mayfield) had seen game time.
