[It was near the end of his press conference to announce his return to USA Basketball] that Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski made a largely unrelated but far more compelling comment about his future. He talked about his excitement regarding where the Atlantic Coast Conference is headed with the coming arrival of former Big Easters Louisville, Notre Dame, Pitt and Syracuse to join the league over the next few seasons. "We're going to be a 10-bid conference," Krzyzewski said. "We're going to be the best conference in the history of the game." The news about his return to USA Basketball had been known a few days. This, however, was stunning.

07:12 AM ET 05.24 | What a difference a year makes for Arizona State football coach Todd Graham. Last year at this time, Graham, just a few months from replacing Dennis Erickson, was on a goodwill tour across the Valley. He spoke on campus and off, met with community leaders and university boosters, spreading his message. At the same time, Graham laid the foundation of his program, one laced in discipline. He set strict rules for his players and established expectations for their actions on the field and off. Today Graham continues those efforts, but he also has significant more time to do what he might do best: prepare. "I feel twice as prepared, and it's (the middle of May), than I did Aug. 31 of last year," Graham said.

02:24 PM ET 05.23 | Electronic Arts is currently involved with the O'Bannon lawsuit against the NCAA for using players likenesses without compensation. Their defense for their NCAA Football video game series is that they never used a player by name, but that argument took a hit when it was discovered that EA used Tim Tebow by name in a formation package that was exclusive to the Florida Gators' playbook. One of the pillars of the NCAA is amateurism, which would prohibit athletes from being compensated based solely on their status as an athlete. However, the NCAA itself and its partners don't seem to have any issues doing just that themselves.

01:08 PM ET 05.23 | Conference USA will replace the ACC as a representative at the Military Bowl. It's unclear at this point which slot in the Conference USA bowl lineup will go to the Military Bowl, but they will face an at-large team going forward. The game will be played from now on at Navy's Memorial Field in Annapolis, rather than at RFK in Washington, DC. The next edition of the six year old bowl game will be played on Dec. 27, 2013.

12:58 PM ET 05.23 | Wide receiver Ivan McCartney has returned to the West Virginia football team. McCartney left the team back in November for personal reasons, but some think that it was over a lack of playing time. However, with both Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey in the NFL, the opportunity for playing time is open for the taking. McCartney had nine catches for 112 yards in 2012 before leaving the team, and was the Mountaineers' third leading receiver in 2011, catching 49 balls for 585 yards.
