08:27 AM ET 05.18 | Illinois wide receiver Darius Millines and defensive end Darrius Caldwell have been kicked off the team. Illinois Sports Information Director Kent Brown said Thursday the players were dismissed over unspecified violations of team rules. Millines was one of the team's most-productive receivers. He was already on an indefinite suspension over the matter. In announcing the suspension in March, coach Tim Beckman declined to discuss the details. Millines was the No. 2 receiver in yardage last fall behind Ryan Lankford on a team that struggled to move the ball. Millines caught 32 balls for 319 yards and no touchdowns.

Washington State cancels Halloween classes prior to night game

01:55 PM ET 05.17 | In what might be the most WSU thing in the history of WSU things, President Elson Floyd announced Thursday that the school will cancel classes on the afternoon of Thursday, Oct. 31, in advance of that night's televised football game against Arizona State. Additionally, he said that attendance at morning classes will be at the discretion of faculty. A less cynical person would note that Pullman more or less has to change everything to accommodate the influx of people into the city when there is a football game. Floyd said this is an "opportunity to share the beauty of our unique Pullman campus before a national television audience in a broadcast carried by one of the ESPN family of networks," and that this is "part of our efforts to ensure the safety and ease of travel throughout campus for faculty, staff, students and fans."

Georgia Tech enters weird Photoshop recruiting fray

01:39 PM ET 05.17 | This year's college football offseason could go down as the Summer of Bad Photoshopping. There is the Florida coaching staff, which is attempting to redefine the entire medium with a series of horrendous MS Paint-style photo edits complete with hashtags. Wyoming has joined in. Oregon State is in the mix. Then there is Georgia Tech. Specifically, Yellow Jackets offensive graduate assistant Preston Pehrson, who joined Twitter on January 30, mostly to troll snowed-in Northerners. If it had remained Pehrson reminding potential Georgia Tech recruits that Southern cities have warmer weather than Northern cities, it would have remained annoying but innocuous. That, of course, was not good enough for Pehrson. He inevitably turned to that hot new recruiting tactic: Photoshopping.

01:28 PM ET 05.17 | Despite enrolling a semester early in January, Chavas Rawlins has decided to leave the Mountaineer football program. A WVillustrated interview with his former high school coach, Andy Pacak, indicated that there were no real issues with the arrival of Clint Trickett or with the school or coaching staff, but the defection of Coach Jake Spavital to Texas A&M may have been the biggest factor. Rawlins' defection officially leaves Coaches Dawson and Holgorsen with three (Paul Millard, Ford Childress and recent transfer Clint Trickett) vying for the starting position this fall. Not that Rawlins necessarily was in the running currently, but his presence certainly held possibilities for future seasons.

01:20 PM ET 05.17 | Former Oklahoma State Cowboys quarterback Wes Lunt is looking to transfer and is visiting Illinois on Thursday, according to a report from Zach Kerker of Channel1450.com. Kerker also notes that the Illini are thought to be the front-runners so far. Lunt began his freshman season in 2012 as the Cowboys' starting quarterback, but various injuries ultimately derailed his year. He finished throwing for 1,108 yards, six touchdowns and seven interceptions over five games. A native of Rochester, Ill., Lunt is reportedly also being recruited by Louisville, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Southern Miss, along with Illinois. ESPN's Joe Schad reports that Lunt is expected to make a choice between one of these five schools without expanding his list.
