Former 4-star QB Lunt picks Illinois

01:33 PM ET 06.17 | Oklahoma State transfer Wes Lunt has made his decision, choosing to go close to home to play for Illinois.

Draconian transfer restrictions set in place by Mike Gundy prevented Lunt from choosing 37 schools, including several he was reportedly interested in playing for. That left Louisville, who likely have just one more year of Teddy Bridgewater, and the Illini. Although Illinois went just 2-10 in their first season under Tim Beckman, things could turn up with the former 4-star recruit under center.

Lunt, a Rochester, Illinois native, played just one season for the Cowboys. He won the starting job right off the bat, but injuries and poor play -- six touchdowns to seven intereceptions -- ended his time as a starter, and after spring ball, he opted to move on.

01:23 PM ET 06.17 | The Nebraska Cornhuskers weren't doing so hot on the recruiting trail, but one big weekend fixed that.

After winning their division in 2012, the Huskers were ranked 10th in the Big Ten -- ahead of just Indiana and Purdue -- heading into their "Big Red Weekend," an annual camp for potential players. Two players -- including their top QB target, Zack Darlington -- committed before the weekend started, and four more chose the Huskers based on what they saw in Lincoln. That haul included the top two players in the state of Nebraska, OG D.J. Foster and DT Mick Stotenberg.

01:12 PM ET 06.17 | The rich get richer, and elite wide receiver recruit Derek Kief committed Alabama Sunday, adding to a group that's already looking like one of the best in the Class of 2014.

Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide had just landed a pledge from a quarterback, five-star signal-caller David Cornwell, considered by many the best quarterback Saban has ever had to work with in Tuscaloosa. Now, he has a target: a 6'5, 197-pound consensus four-star recruit from Cincinnati. Kief was also considering Ohio State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, and Kentucky. He announced the decision via a video posted on his personal website.

12:58 PM ET 06.17 | Ka'Deem Carey no longer has to worry about charges stemming from an ugly off-field incident, as Tuscon prosecutors say they're no longer pursuing domestic violence charges against the All-American running back.

Carey led the nation in rushing with 1,929 yards and is expected to have an outside shot at the Heisman in 2013. But there were questions about whether he'd be able to play when news of his arrest broke. The rising junior had allegedly assaulted a pregnant ex-girlfriend in December, about two weeks the team's victory in the New Mexico Bowl. But prosecutors say that a key witness in the case would not be testifying, hence the decision to drop all charges.

07:28 AM ET 06.17 | Quite a week for the recruiting class of 2014's quarterback corps, including Jacob Park, a 6-3, 197-pounder committing to Georgia. After Park's commitment, Alabama received a verbal pledge from David Cornwell, who is one of the best pro-style prospects in the 2014 class. The 6-5, 235-pounder from Norman North High School (Norman, OK), who recently won his appeal for a fifth year of high school football, is the best quarterback prospect to sign with the Crimson Tide in the Nick Saban era. He chose the Crimson Tide over offers from Notre Dame, Auburn and several other major programs. ... [Cornwell] passed for 2,742 yards and 27 touchdowns and rushed for 755 yards and six more scores last year.
