Texting lawsuit against Brett Favre settled

09:24 AM ET 05.25 | A lawsuit filed by two massage therapists who sued retired National Football League quarterback Brett Favre over claims he sent racy text messages has been settled, a lawyer for the women said Friday. Lawyer David Jaroslawicz wouldn't comment on the terms of the settlement, saying only that the case had been "resolved and discontinued." Christina Scavo and Shannon O'Toole had alleged in a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages that in 2008, while Favre was playing for the New York Jets, they lost their part-time jobs with the team after complaining that he sent sexually suggestive texts to another therapist. During the 2008 exhibition season, the lawsuit alleged, the former Green Bay Packer and three-time NFL MVP sent another woman a text message asking to get together with her and Scavo, followed by another text saying, "I guess I have bad intentions." A lawyer for Favre didn't immediately respond to a call for comment Friday but has denied the allegations in the past, arguing in court papers that if the therapists lost work Favre wasn't responsible for it.

08:31 AM ET 05.25 | With Chris Kluwe's departure to Oakland, it seems like eons since any of the Minnesota Vikings have weighed in with their views on the hot button issue of gay marriage. Thankfully, Adrian Peterson has filled the void. The NFL MVP said "I'm not with that" when the conversation turned to same-sex marriage during a Thursday interview on Sirius/XM NFL satellite radio. The star running back was asked by hosts Bruce Murray and Amani Toomer whether he thought the Vikings cut their longtime punter because of his vocal support of gay marriage. And as he so often does with tacklers, he took the issue head on. "To each his own. I'm not with it," Peterson said. "But I have relatives that, you know, ****. I'm not biased towards them. I still treat them the same. I love them. But again, I'm not with that. That's not something that I believe in. But to each his own." Peterson said he saw no ulterior motives in the release of Kluwe. "I'm sure the Vikings' organization did not release him based on that," Peterson said. "They know Kluwe. They've been knowing him for a long time. They know he's outspoken."

08:25 AM ET 05.25 | Michael Vick is on the wrong side of 30 in a league flooded with young, lightning-quick quarterbacks, but the Philadelphia Eagles veteran still believes he's the fastest signal-caller around. In a Friday morning chat with "The Dan Patrick Show," Vick said he could whip Robert Griffin III, Colin Kaepernick -- or anyone else -- in a footrace. "These guys are young and they're fast and they're quick, the thing I do have is a very quick get-up," Vick said. "I really don't feel like there's a quarterback in the league that can beat me in a 40-yard dash. If somebody wants to set something up, I'll be more than glad to accept the challenge. But as of right now I'm going to say me. But Colin Kaepernick is fast and RG3 is fast, as well." Vick made waves this offseason when he beat LeSean McCoy in a 40-yard dash. The Eagles running back insists Vick cheated, but the quarterback laughed that off.

Jared Allen remains hostile with Minnesota Vikings

02:54 PM ET 05.24 | The Minnesota VIkings are entering an interesting period in terms of where the franchise is headed, but there's a massive, mulleted question mark standing in the way of fans fully embracing the change. Jared Allen told the Star Tribune earlier this week that he would leave the Vikings if they asked him to take a pay cut and he hasn't backed off that claim. In fact Allen is continuing to question his future with the Vikings and has said he's not sure if he'll be with the Vikings in 2014 after his contract expires. Allen is entitled to a decent chunk of coin for living through the terrible teams Minnesota has produced the last few years since 2009 but you can't complain about not having good talent and then lock the safe when it comes time to chip in and put your money where your mouth is. Vikings fans are growing increasingly displeased with Allen and this lashing out at the team he has been so much a part of is a really bad look for Allen -- worse than the mullet which is increasingly becoming uncool with each hostile remark he makes.

05:08 PM ET 05.24 | The struggles for New England tight end Rob Gronkowski continue: although his fourth surgery on his once-broken, eventually infected left forearm appears to have gone well, the Pats' medical staff is now turning their attention to his back, per Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. Gronkowski has experienced chronic pain in the back for about a year, dating back to before he injured his arm. He intends to see an expert in about a month to check it out. It seems the team isn't sure what to expect.
