"The knee feels great," Griffin said. "I'm able to do all the stuff out there without any hesitation." Griffin did not participate in the OTA but was on the field and did some running and throwing. 07:01 AM ET 05.24 | St. Louis has what may be the hardest player to miss this OTA season. The newest Ram, tackle Thomas Brown, is a mountain of a man. Signed as a college free agent out of Mississippi earlier this week, Brown is listed at 6-foot-10 and 385 pounds. But he is even bigger than that. "Actually, we weighed him in at 403," Rams coach Jeff Fisher said. "We had him in for a rookie tryout and he had some issues we had to clear up from a physical standpoint. But we put that behind us. We worked him out on both sides of the ball and decided that his best position would be offensive tackle. He's a defensive lineman trying to convert to offense, but he got through practice."

Urlacher would have played for Cowboys

07:00 AM ET 05.24 | Brian Urlacher walked away from football this week, somewhat ironically on good knees. "I wanted to feel good in the offseason," Urlacher said. "I had a little pain after the season. But my knee feels unreal now. Good timing, huh?" ... Although the Bears seemed to leave open the possibility of an Urlacher return months after sending out a parting news release, such a scenario never materialized. Some speculated Urlacher would end up with the rival Vikings based on that team's need for a middle linebacker. Only one team outside of the Bears truly intrigued Urlacher. "If I could have picked a spot, it would have been Dallas," Urlacher said. "(The Cowboys) run our defense. They took our d-coordinator (Rod Marinelli). That would have been ideal."

06:59 AM ET 05.24 | The clock on Jared Allen, the Vikings $14-million man (his cap number is more than $17M), is ticking. As you well know, [Allen] has reached an unfamiliar point as he enters his 10th NFL season. He's suddenly in a contract year. ... Given Allen's age (31), his battles with shoulder and knee injuries in 2012 and the expensive price tag he'll certainly command until his playing days are over, it's very possible his time as a Viking could be nearing an end. ... Oh, and you also should know that when Allen went to get his haircut a few weeks back, he decided to go back to his trademarked mullet. "I'm going to rock it, man. Let's bring it back," Allen said. "I figured why not end my contract the way I started it."

06:02 PM ET 05.23 | Philadelphia Eagles tight end James Casey will undergo arthroscopic surgery to clean out loose cartilage his right knee and will be out of action for the rest of the spring, a team spokesman confirmed to USA TODAY Sports. The spokesman said Casey should be ready to go by the start of training camp. The Eagles signed tight end Will Shaw this week, surely in part to help take some reps in Casey's absence. Shaw's addition is why the team waived running back Miguel Maysonet, who was claimed by the Cleveland Browns. There was speculation cutting Maysonet, who received a $10,000 signing bonus, was a sign of a rift between general manager Howie Roseman and coach Chip Kelly. However, a person informed of the team's thinking said Casey's surgery meant the Eagles needed a roster spot for Shaw.
