Brian Hoyer could win backup job with Cleveland Browns

06:29 PM ET 05.19 | The Cleveland Browns turned a few heads this week when they signed free agent quarterback Brian Hoyer, most recently cut by the Arizona Cardinals. The reason for the surprise is the fact that Cleveland already has two quarterbacks on roster expected to fight for the starting spot and Hoyer's existence on the roster complicates that. While Brandon Weeden is widely recognized as the strongest candidate to win the starting job, Hoyer is expected to make a significant run at the backup role and you shouldn't sleep on the idea of him beating our Jason Campbell in training camp. Hoyer has already made Brandon Weeden uncomfortable but he's more likely to take Campbell's job as backup and could even cost him a roster spot, as Grossi implied in his observation of the situation. No matter what the Browns do, it's a make-or-break year for whoever starts, as Rob Chudzinski and Norv Turner will want the best man for the job and he may not even be on the roster at the moment.

05:49 PM ET 05.19 | Washington fans are known for their intense love for their team, but this is a bit different. Redskins fans bought every single item on Robert Griffin III's wedding registry, a move that I'm not sure has been done before. For those that were wondering, yes, Griffin was registered at Bed Bath & Beyond. I'm sure Griffin and his fiance could afford everything on their registry, but it's the thought that counts.

05:30 PM ET 05.19 | The Chicago Bears have signed their top pick from the 2013 NFL Draft, offensive lineman Kyle Long. Long, who played left tackle at Oregon, is expected to play guard for the Bears. He'll be part of a reworked offensive line that struggled last year. The team also signed free agent left tackle Jermon Bushrod. Long is the brother of Rams defensive end Chris Long and the son of NFL Hall of Famer Howie Long.

05:14 PM ET 05.19 | The New York Giants could be interested in signing free agent defensive back Charles Woodson. Woodson, who was released by the Packers earlier this offseason, is still on the market after talking with the Carolina Panthers, Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos. A deal is not imminent between Woodson and the Giants, but may get more aggressive if they think they can get Woodson for a good value. Safety is not a huge position of need, so they don't need him desperately.

04:59 PM ET 05.19 | Rahim Moore was the man responsible for the blown coverage on Jacoby Jones' 70 yard touchdown catch in the AFC Championship Game last year. To realize you're at least partly responsible for a team's failing is a tough thing to deal with, but it sounds like Moore and the rest of the Denver Broncos have put it behind them. "I think he's over it; I think we're all over it, you know," defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio told the media, which is good because a mistake like that can sometimes linger for a long time. A short memory is a good thing to have for NFL defensive backs, and hopefully Moore can play well in 2013.
