Will NFL owners blackball Donald Trump?

09:29 AM ET 04.20 | The Donald has the money but may not have the votes. Donald Trump, whose fortune has been listed at $3.9 billion by Forbes, can probably pay cash for the Bills, listed as the 30th most valuable NFL franchise by Forbes last summer with a value of $870 million. Trump has set himself up as a potential hero by saying he is serious about buying the Bills and is committed to keeping them in Buffalo. One small problem: NFL owners have long memories. Trump, who was the owner of the New Jersey Generals, is considered by the NFL as the driving force behind the USFL's $1.69 billion antitrust lawsuit against the league in 1986, which ultimately earned the USFL an award of $1 trebled to $3. Can Trump get the required 24 of 32 votes -- 75% -- to be accepted into this very exclusive club? "It's very hard to answer that question. He did try to bring the NFL down," one NFL owner told the Daily News. "Let's put it this way: I don't think his confirmation would be a slam dunk."

Vikings prepared to pass on quarterback?

09:55 AM ET 04.20 | With the NFL draft just 18 days away, it now looks like the Vikings will do one of two things with their No. 8 overall pick: Trade down to accumulate more picks or take the best defensive player available. No quarterback. The defensive player would be expected to be either a defensive lineman -- Aaron Donald from Pittsburgh is a possibility -- or free safety Hasean Clinton-Dix from Alabama. Using No. 8 on a defensive player would mean the Vikings would expect that player to start the first game of next season.

10:08 AM ET 04.20 | Chad (formerly Ochocinco) Johnson has signed with the Montreal Alouettes. That much we know. What we don't know: Whether Johnson will be in training camp in Montreal come June. We can't know that. And the Alouettes don't know that. As recently as last June, Johnson spent a short time in prison in Florida for domestic-violence charges involving his ex-wife. An original 30-day sentence was altered to seven days, and afterwards Johnson said he lost the two things he loved most from his outburst: "His beautiful wife and football." Now is his chance to play again.
