06:06 PM ET 05.20 | The NFL and NFL Players Association are on the verge of pushing back the draft to May and moving up the start of the league year to before the Indianapolis scouting combine, according to league and union sources. The change of the draft to May would be effective in 2014, according to a source. As for the draft, the NFLPA is close to signing off on allowing the NFL to move the draft to May from April for at least the next three years, according to sources. Under the current collective bargaining agreement, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell can set the date of the draft without the NFLPA's approval, although he would prefer to have the union's blessing to maintain league harmony.

07:01 AM ET 05.20 | Are we seeing a brand new, more feisty Jason Garrett? [It's] already been an under-siege, looooooooong off-season for Garrett, who has obviously become the favorite whipping boy for owner Jerry Jones. We all know Jerry is not going to blame himself for what's been continually wrong with the Cowboys. ... Garrett, however, is not backing off or backing down. The ongoing drill of late has been Jerry making pointed comments, and in a subtle way, aiming those at Garrett. Then we wait a day or a week, and Garrett answers, in also a subtle way, shooting down everything Jerry had to say. ... If this is Garrett's last stand at Valley Ranch, he seems determined to make his stand, not Jerry's.

Chargers shielding Te'o from questions

06:59 AM ET 05.20 | In the eyes of some, this is about the time Chargers fans would already have tired of Manti Te'o questions. [Te'o] should be getting boring by now, but with this embargo, there remains a tint of bizarre. It is completely understandable that Chargers coach Mike McCoy would want to shield his celebrity of a linebacker from prying media members, and if the request came from Te'o, one can empathize with that as well. But this story isn't like a headache or a bruise that will go away if you just leave it alone. It's more like an anxiety disorder -- the only way to kill it is with exposure. ... Te'o may not want to field the questions, but he should. Oddly enough, sometimes talking is the best way to stop a conversation.

06:58 AM ET 05.20 | So much for Vegas, baby. Is Rob Gronkowski being told to curb his enthusiasm, again? Last winter, after the hard-partying Patriots tight end was seen wrestling in Las Vegas -- with a broken forearm -- many believe he was told by team officials to calm down. ... Well, last week we noticed that an entity called JumpSeat was offering fans a chance to fly to Las Vegas with Gronkowski in a private jet -- for a mere $40,000. ... But just as we were getting excited about the prospect of hitting the mile-high minibar with Gronk, the company pulled the plug. "Hey Folks," tweeted @JumpSeatMe. "Sorry ???bout the disappointment, but the Gronk trip is not happening. He is staying home relaxing."
