07:26 AM ET 05.22 | Is Colorado about to lose out on Patrick Roy for the second time in four years? Tuesday came and went without the Avalanche naming a head coach, but [Roy] remains a strong candidate for the job. ... The Avalanche would not comment on a Denver Post report that quoted Roy's brother, Stephane, as saying his older brother would be the next coach. Stephane Roy on Tuesday deleted a post on his Facebook page that said Patrick would be the next coach, something he reiterated in a Monday night interview with The Denver Post. He did not return calls Tuesday. The Avs remain interested in Roy as a candidate, however, and the newspaper La Presse in Quebec says Roy is interested in the job and talks are ongoing.

07:25 AM ET 05.22 | At the very least, Jussi Jokinen's time in the press box might have provided insight into his opponent's tendencies in the faceoff circle. "Watching [from] up top you're going to see tendencies what their centers like to do," said Jokinen. But that's pretty much it. Make no mistake, Jokinen is ready to play. He skated as the fourth line center and on the second power-play unit at practice Tuesday afternoon at Scotiabank Place, indicating he's a decent bet to be in the lineup Wednesday night for Game 4. "If I play, I'm ready to go for sure," said Jokinen, who said he is healthy. "It's not easy to watch from up top, especially this time of year. It's not an easy feeling, there's nothing you can do there."

07:23 AM ET 05.22 | Detroit, seemingly younger now than ever, still has a way of turning on the veteran poise -- and charm. The Red Wings might consider sending referee Brad Watson a thank-you note after he waved off [Viktor Stalberg's] would-be tying goal like it was 1999. (After all, "You do want to be on their good side," noted Jonathan Ericsson. ... [Watching] them do what they did the last two games, it's hard not to see what Ericsson saw. He suggested the Blackhawks' last-minute meltdown on a muggy night in downtown Detroit "absolutely" was "a good indication" the Red Wings were in the Blackhawks' heads, giving them much more than a puncher's chance as underdogs in this series. "If we can get them frustrated, that's almost 1-0 for us right away," Ericsson said.

07:22 AM ET 05.22 | Looking at New York's bench Tuesday night, one might be forgiven for wondering where everyone went, with perhaps the most significant loss on the blue line. With just under seven minutes remaining in the second period, defenseman Anton Stralman was slammed into the backboards by burly Bruins forward Milan Lucic, dazing Stralman to the point where he could hardly defend Nathan Horton in front of the net as he rang one off the crossbar. Stralman returned for one more shift in the second period but was not on the bench to start the third, and his status going into tomorrow night's Game 4 is unknown. "It's huge," coach John Tortorella said of Stralman's loss. ... "He has played so well. That's a big blow to us as far as [matchups]."
