Saban blaming 'Bama fans for Sugar Bowl loss?

One of the more interesting things about Alabama coach Nick Saban is that he never misses an opportunity to send a message. Even after a mostly positive A-Day, Saban was asked by a reporter, How successful have you been in changing the attitudes and expectations of, well, everyone? What followed was a long, meandering answer from Saban that included a discussion of 15 of 20 seniors graduating by December, what his program does in terms of personal development and how he is inspired by the attitudes of LeBron James and Tiger Woods, the latter of whom says, "You've never arrived." Then, Saban turned everyone toward a Sugar Bowl experience that was brutal for fans, players and coaches alike. Here was his message: "I want our fans to understand that when they don't have positive passion and energy for what we're trying to accomplish, then it affects everyone," Saban said. "Last year's team was a great example of that."

Its hard to be more positive than those damn folks from Utah! If thats what it takes to win, they had no chance!

They got beat. On the field. Simple as that.

April 22, 2009  09:27 AM ET

He didn't blame them. He stated that the fans weren't up for it. They weren't.

April 22, 2009  09:34 AM ET

In that case your fans were as prepared for that game, as your team was. You got outcoached, your team was not prepared. Your players got outhustled. Life goes on.

Funny thing is, he can blame Urban Meyer for both of his losses last season.

Their Perfomance was expected, Utah wanted to be playing in the Sugar Bowl and Lou & Alabama wanted to be playing the National Championship.

We will be back this year. 7 showing, going for 8

The SEC is so full of drama. The coaches get more press than the players.

April 22, 2009  10:39 AM ET

He's saying some of the booster's checks bounced with the down economy and the players said F- it, we are on strike until we get paid.....

Stupid that someone would make this comment, stupid that boosters would let their checks bounce, or stupid that the players would go on strike without giving the boosters a 2nd chance to make good on thier payments?

Success tends to do that.

The comment.

Booster checks don't bounce 'cause the deal in cash. Only the stupid among us wouldn't know this.

They had no answer for the spread. That's why UF beat them. Their O lost their best player (out of stupidity) hours before the game, so they had no push and could not answer the blitz.

Utah schemed well, was motivated and kicked arse. Bama lost all of their marbles against us and didn't want to play. They were flat. It was easy to see that it was not the same team that was in the SEC CG.

So, you're saying that pouty Bama coaches, players, and fans were so disappointed that they chucked it in rather than rise to the challenge before them?

"We will be back this year. 7 showing, going for 8"
To whom does "we" refer to here? You're from Blue Springs, MO...

"Boomer Sooner"
This tidbit has no connection to the subject matter, your declared place of residence, or your prior comments. Are you an OU fan? Alum? Just trying to provoke that fella from Texas?

Now, that's the way to state the case...

They don't have ATM's in the South, so how are they going to get cash? It's easier for players to put checks in their jocks then wait until after practice and remedial reading to go cash it at the local Piggly-Wiggly Cash Check service......
