Former Bucs linebacker Shelton Quarles says he has received some interest from several teams and will decide in a week or so whether to resume his playing career. Although he didn't disclose the teams, one of them is likely the Lions, where former Bucs linebackers coach Joe Barry is the defensive coordinator and Rod Marinelli is head coach.

This is a good move for the Lions....Get a Vet. LB that has been in the system his whole career....Who can bring leadership and saavy to the D. He only has to be solid...Ernie Sims is the Star playmaker....He will fill a Nice Void in their D. Good Job to the lions if they pick him up.

eh, if the Linebackers can stay healthy at the same time. they wouldnt be that bad. Are the Lions allergic to having players on the team that people have heard of though? as soon as somebody makes a name for themselves. (bly), they ship em out

Shelton has some serious medical questions that will need to be answered during a comprehensive physical examination, including MRI's, x-rays, and an exhaustive, comprehensive psychiatric evaluation.

He is out of his mind.

C'mon.... He's good, but hes going to be 36 at the start of the season. The only long term impact he can have is to be a mentor to the younger defensive guys.... is that worth bring him out of retirement for? Maybe.

STOPHATINKOBE,

I know about the LB core for the Lions. My other posts I talk about Boss Bailey and Teddy Lehman and what they could do if HEALTHY. They would have the youngest, most athletic Cover 2 LB's in the league. If ever Healthy!!!!!!!!

If he could still play effectively, he'd still be in Tampa

I think Qurles could have came back for the bucs. He does have medical issues, but he also had them at the start of last season. His departure from the bucs was a move to create cap space and to allow the younger now ready to be a full time starter RUDD to play. The LB crew was old, Quarles would be 36 and know body knows how many good years brooks have left. Could not have both of them give it up at once. But Quarles could provide excellent help and leadership off the bench.

The Lions would still suck if they signed him anyway
