07:47 AM ET 04.25 | The Super Bowl is not headed across the pond to London anytime soon, despite a report that made it seem the NFL was about to export America's greatest sporting event. Every couple of years, the idea of an international Super Bowl comes up and creates a bit of hysteria on radio shows and in the media. But commissioner Roger Goodell made a point Friday to say the league "has never looked at London or Mexico City" as a Super Bowl site. The next three Super Bowls are in Miami, Arlington, Tex., and Indianapolis. The league will soon award the 2013 game. The three finalists are New Orleans, Miami and Glendale, Ariz. "There is not an international city," Goodell said. "Maybe New Orleans is considered an international city." The BBC reported Friday that the NFL has had "substantive talks" with officials in London about hosting the Super Bowl. London has shown tremendous interest in hosting the Super Bowl and the Patriots and Bucs will play a regular-season game this year at Wembley Stadium, the third in a series that began with the Giants and Dolphins in 2007.
