Childress: Vikings may try to woo Favre

Quarterback great Brett Favre says he's retired, but Minnesota coach Brad Childress acknowledges the Vikings may try to woo him back to the NFL later in this offseason. Childress declined on Friday to directly answer a question about whether he plans to speak to Favre soon. The coach said he has been too busy with the NFL draft and the team's rookie minicamp. Favre received a release from the New York Jets earlier this week. The 39-year-old Favre left his future open with the disclaimer "at this time" in a statement affirming his retirement. The Green Bay Packers -- the team where Favre made his name as one of the game's best ever quarterbacks -- filed tampering charges against the Vikings last summer, alleging inappropriate contact with Favre while he was weighing up retiring. The league dismissed the case. Asked whether the team discussed the possibility of pursuing Favre now that he's a free agent, Childress said no. "We haven't. It doesn't mean we won't," Childress said. "We talk about everything, from what's going on in the United States on the front page today. ... So, yeah, I'm sure we'll talk about that."

I just am thankful the Bears got Cutler so there is no Bears/Favre rumors this year. I would have thrown up if Favre had ever put on a Bears uniform.

"Vikings may try to woo Favre". WOW!! Do they enjoy the ViQueens moniker?

Ah Bart, we know you well. Too well, in my opinion.

Brett---loved ya...but now....PLEEEZE go away and enjoy your retirement....you have earned it

In the above picture, is that a BONE sticking through Favre's helmet? Hey bonehead, face facts, it's time to retire.

I don't think I can handle another off season of Favre drama. Maybe they should start looking at trying to get a good YOUNG quarterback who might be a viable option now and into the future. Maybe try working on Tavaris Jackson a little. Anything other than making the football loving world sit through another Favrian drama.

Why would anyone want to sign an old QB, who sucked when the pressure was on in his final game of the season for two consecutive years?

Farve, Farve, Farve.........(sigh)

by "wooing", if you mean dropping him off on some deserted island somewhere with Emilia Earhardt, then Im all for it.

How about a "three hour" cruise?

Second verse, same as the first.

Favre, "just go away, don't go away mad". The only footballs that Favre should be throwing is for those Wrangle commercial pick-up games.

Too bad S.I. didn't realize 98% of the comments weren't about Farve.....

Guess they should do their homework. There is always a thread where FN members gather and shoot the bull. The topic becomes meaningless after the first 100+ comments. Sometimes even sooner.

A box of candy and a nice card should do it.

Pssst. The wooing is already occuring. I've heard Bert is being offered a lifetime Vicatin prescription, and his own four hour weekly program on the NFL network. Nothing Bert likes more than listening to the sound of his own aw shucks arrogant self talking.

Brett fans, remind of the date of the last important game this guy won?

Much better than a "three hour cruise.:

When the rookies want to date your 20 year old daughter, it's really time to pack it in.
