McNabb not talking to media

Donovan McNabb playfully jawed with Asante Samuel during the Eagles' afternoon practice Friday inside the bubble. McNabb and Samuel taunted each other during passing drills, turning a mundane practice into an excitable war of words, with teammates quickly taking sides and joining in the verbal warfare. That's about all the talking McNabb did. The Eagles' quarterback didn't address the media and, according to the team's public relations staff, doesn't intend to before camp ends Sunday. McNabb usually conducts a press conference on the first day of the first minicamp. This time, he skipped out, leaving reporters to question head coach Andy Reid about McNabb's current feelings about the team.

I wish they would at least give McNabb a helmet that fits....

The Eagles might be a force this year. The NFC east should be tough as ever this year, I expect 3 teams in the playoffs again.

Maybe Donovan wants to focus on the minicamp without worry of having to defend a comment he makes taken out of context.

May 4, 2009  09:19 AM ET

Just as well.....it doesn't seem to say the smartest things anyway..

May 4, 2009  09:46 AM ET

Damn, I was hoping he's enlighten us on what happens when two both teams have the exact same score at the end of the game.

This guy has a lot of nerve jawing with Asante Samuel. All Samuel has to do is show him the Super Bowl rings he's got to show McNabb what he will never get. Plus Pats beat the Eagles in that one Super Bowl So Samuel has nothing to prove, McNabb needs to get over the hump and shut up. My prediction for NFC East 1. Eagles, 2. Giants, 3. Redskins, 4. Brokeback Chokeboys.

They keep playing.

Now what do you do if they are still playing and the Superbowl needs to start?

Hmmmmm.

May 4, 2009  10:33 AM ET

Be careful of those practices inside bubbles.....

Perhaps you read it differently than I did, but I got out of this that they were gong back and forth "trash talking" in a friendly manner, not in a seriously disparaging way... They're teammates for god's sake. And its a mini-camp!

I think you're being a little over-sensitive - I doubt McNabb was attempting to question the abilities of someone he is depending on to reach his goals, much less a team that he played on 2 years ago.

What part of "playfully" jawing is it that you don't understand?

The media has always been hard on him. I think he should beat a reporter each week. would make him feel better at least

thiss sentance annoys me cause McNabb loves philly and the team, its the organization that he has problems with.

im from philly and all im saying is that it would be nice to not have to deal with players going to the press every time they have a problem and focus on camp so we can go all the way this year

May 4, 2009  01:44 PM ET

mcnabb has some good years left in him... eagles will pay up soon if they want to keep a potentially good year for them to continue... why do what the packers did? one game away from the super bowl and you jettison your starting qtrback?!?!?!

May 4, 2009  02:22 PM ET

perhaps the PR folks haven't yet gotten this year's "excuse list" printed up

Dono likes his helmet extra large, it doubles as a barf-bucket in case the game gets stressfull and he needs somewhere to yak
