The Jets will continue to keep an eye on the Plaxico Burress legal situation. That much-ballyhooed phone call to agent Drew Rosenhaus before the draft wasn't a one-time-only call.

When the first story is old news and mostly white space you know it's going to be a slow day...

WOW. A stunning development. I really thought that the phone call to Rosenhaus, WAS a one-time-only call. Amazing to find out it's not. FN...Always on top.

Go ahead and bring in Dead-Eye Burris. He'll tear that locker room up in no time...

May 5, 2009  07:22 AM ET

Sure so we see now that it's all choreographed. Brett, Brett, Plax. Brett, Brett, Plax. Shame that there's no TO counterpoint, but he's lost in the wilds of upper New York State.

How about, "The Jets have been taking contract to Plax and the two sides have agreed to the installation of a target range in the locker room."

Again another two sentence T&R from FN.

May 5, 2009  07:58 AM ET

Great reporting........it will be dark tonight and we will have weather.

May 5, 2009  08:01 AM ET

Thanks for that two sentence post, FN. Really, added a lot to NFL news this morning.

So does Plax have a shot with the Jets, or does he not have a leg to stand on?

one leg. the other has a hole in it.

A team really has to be desparate to follow a guy who will most likely be suspended if he;s not in jail during football season...

NY is so corrupt I expect him to buy his way out of it.

I think he's done in NY....there's no buying his way out of it there.....

It's called due diligence...if he's allowed to play this year I'm all for him coming to the Jets. He's one of the most dominant WR's in the NFL and one of the Jets biggest needs. He made Eli...I'm all for him making Sanchez.

If he helps them win a super bowl he can tear it up as much as he likes. Nobody thought he was too much of a problem when he was dominating the Pats in the SB...

The NFL won't let him play this year...it would be a PR mess......

May 5, 2009  08:41 AM ET

Doesn't cost them anything to monitor the situation and stay in touch with his agent - worst case, Burress doesn't play, but all the Jets are out is some telephone charges - best case, he pleads the charges down , get a 4 game suspension, and the Jets have a bona fide deep threat for minimum $$ - actually, scratch that last part, Rosenhaus is his agent. If he were to do a minimum deal with the Jets, he'd have Burress demand a trade the minute he's reinstated.

they better they have only one decent receiver and he is a #2

The jests are just waiting for Cheddar to drop the soap...
