Patriots running back Fred Taylor, who has a history of nagging injuries, recently suffered a sprained left wrist while he was exercising, according to medical sources. Taylor hurt the wrist when he fell on his outstretched left hand. It appears the injury occurred while he was working out on his own in South Florida and not at Gillette Stadium under the team's supervision. Taylor, who signed a two-year, $5 million deal to join the Patriots in February, sought treatment April 24, complaining of pain for two days. An MRI did not reveal any fractures, dislocations, or ligament damage, and the initial diagnosis of a sprain was confirmed. Taylor was told to put the wrist in a Velcro splint, rest it, and ice it. Last Monday, doctors told Taylor that he gradually could ramp up his activity over the following two or three weeks. The injury has affected Taylor's ability to lift weights, as that activity, in particular, aggravates the wrist.

Barrel of laughs Belichick will deny every word of this story, or that there even is someone named Fred Taylor playing for the Patriots.

Fred who? Isn't Gillette a razorblade? What is truth? How many angels can float on the head of a beer?

May 5, 2009  07:36 AM ET

Yeah he was exercising when he sprained his wrist. What was he really doing?

May 5, 2009  08:01 AM ET

Not looking good for the Cheatriots this year.

May 5, 2009  08:07 AM ET

Hopefully the wrist heals up in time for Fred's annual groin injury

I'm thinking that a fan of a team that chockes every year, brings in bad character guys who then show worse character, and who illegally built a structure that paralyzed a man this wek should keep his dumb mouth shut about a 2-year old story that another team had cameras at an angle that was not allowed, even though 3/4 of the rest of the leagues coaches admitted off-the-record to doing the same thing. I won't even get into the Cowboys' history of rampant drug abuse and cheating in the early 90's. Those who live in cheaply built plastic domes that paralyze people should not throw stones jackhole.

maybe the same thing as Lance Briggs who cut his palm shaving last week

May 5, 2009  08:18 AM ET

Now that's a good sign....what happens if he changes a lightbulb?

May 5, 2009  08:30 AM ET

Belicheat can prove Fred Taylor hurt himself in South Florida and not at Gillette Stadium because they have it on video.

May 5, 2009  08:32 AM ET

There's a surprise

No no.. I think you DID hit a nerve. He is probably wasting his time with someone who can;t come up with an original comment.

With their film guy gone, they forgot to change the batteries..

I know... I am just glad The pats didn;t invest a lot in him. If he gives them meaningful minutes and puts up 500-600 yards, with being a recieving threat, it will be worth it... Might spring some recievers open as a threat at least.

and hopefully the two aren;t related..

I'm no Pats fan, but they have been way more successful with other teams cast-offs than with their draft picks at RB over the past ten years.

ashame this guy has had all the talent in the world but can never stay healthy

May 5, 2009  09:03 AM ET

And a sprained wrist in May equates to just what in Sept?

I'm sure it will work out for them in the end as, they are the Pats and everything seems to work out for them
