Former Bears lineman Terry "Tank" Johnson's blood-alcohol level was below the legal limit when he was pulled over for allegedly driving under the influence in Gilbert, Ariz., last month. Just-released blood test results show Johnson's blood-alcohol content was .072. The legal limit in Arizona is .08. A Bears spokesman said Monday the club is taking a "no comment" position. But a Bears insider said, "Our decision to release Tank did not hinge on whether he was or was not legally drunk. It was a decision based on the accumulation of offenses and improprieties over a period of time."

Go back to Jail Chump.....Take Daddy Tank with you too.

July 3, 2007  08:03 AM ET

Good call AL...so he got off on one charge. There are still unsafe driver laws, where drivers who show intoxication (such as the PC used to pull him over) but are under the limit. Still doesn't explain the weapons violations and the myriad of other issues. It's so hard to be a model citizen...

July 3, 2007  08:09 AM ET

Navy? You need to switch to the AF! Okay well anyway, 0.72 is still drunk. It is under a .10th of being Legally drunk....They pulled over Tank for doing 80mph or something.....What would you people think about your family in another car coming the other way. This is crazy. The guy is still intoxicated. If he keeps this crap up he will kill himself, friends, and innocent people!

July 3, 2007  08:23 AM ET

he was stoned... that's what I think they are trying to say here...

July 3, 2007  09:12 AM ET

He was still out at 3 in the morning. This fool will never learn.

PS - Marvin Lewis, don't even think about it.

July 3, 2007  09:13 AM ET

they pulled him over for doing 80 mph?

he was pulled over for going 40 mph in a 25. Something I, and everyone else on this board, do all the time.

If I had just got out of jail, I'd probably want to have a few drinks as well. Give him a break. Its not like he was completely smashed.

July 3, 2007  09:39 AM ET

I love the way Fannation is still using the "I got something stuck in my****" photo for all Tank related stories. It kills me every time I see it.

July 3, 2007  09:40 AM ET

good to know. p.ooper is censored.

July 3, 2007  09:47 AM ET

I dont care about the speeding. But he was near the legal limit and got pulled over. It brought his reputation into question again. To mcuh negative attention, even if he was not charged with a DUI.

July 3, 2007  10:10 AM ET

So according to you fools..a guy doesnt have to actually break the law..all there needs to be is some racist-jealous cop that decides that he wants a story.... this is stupid.....the bears should apologize to tank for jumping the gun...instead they use the george bush weapons of mass destruction defense...uh well there is no evidence of the weapons but saddam is a bad guy anyway...the bears suck as an organization...i wouldnt want to play for them...they wont win a title for decades..so who really cares??

July 3, 2007  10:11 AM ET

Chief2788..................I really think that the Chiefs need Help no on the DT spot. Not talking trash but, I could really see him coming in with James Reed, and being spelled by both Turk McBride and the Other Tank Tyler. If they want to stop the run it starts at DT. Even though he is a chump!

July 3, 2007  10:16 AM ET

Everyone pulls the RACE card. The dude is ignorant. I face Racism everyday. My daughter faces racism everyday. You are impaired at 0.072, I don't care.......You can still kill someone.....I really take offense to the Saddam thing........My grandfather lost his fingers and half of his toes due to being tortured by Iraqi Soldiers while he was working on oil rigs, 4 of my friends have been killed in the Wars.......I have been deployed there.....And I will gladly go again. Don't bring War into it. You sit back thinking the world is out to get you and everyone who is not White....................I will make sure you have the FREEDOM TO BE IGNORANT...........EVEN IF IT COSTS ME MY LIFE!

July 3, 2007  10:28 AM ET

Apologize? I think Tank still owes an apology to the Bears for taking yet another chance on him. Just because he wasn't legally drunk doesn't mean he's not in the wrong. The Bears said it's a "no tolerance" stance in regard to his behavior. It has nothing to do with the legal aspects, more with the blatant disregard for certain team rules.

July 3, 2007  10:37 AM ET

It doesn't matter if he was black, white, brown, yellow, whatever. The fact of the matter is that this man was arrested for something that he was NEVER charged with. Just the arrest, and he was fired for it.

Look at it this way...if you were arrested for a crime, fired from your job, and then exonerated 2 weeks later, how happy would you feel? I imagine that whether you're black or white, you're going to be a bit P1SSED off about it. The Bears need to re-examine themselves. Because either you're drunk, or not, and the law clearly stated that he wasn't drunk.

To my fellow black people, PLEASE STOP pulling the **** race card! I'm throwing the race flag!

July 3, 2007  10:43 AM ET

He has screwed himself.....The Bears want no part of an Immature player that will drag there name in the mud!

July 3, 2007  11:03 AM ET

Tank's negatives are simple misunderstandings....First the guns. They were registered in AR but not CHI....then bodyguard shot at nightclub...Well he is young and youngster like to go out (like u didnt) BUT what could Tank have done...thats something that is out of his control (the actions of others)...DUI..or the lack of DUI...so he got pull'd over for speeding...NOT FOR DRIVING UNDER THE INFLU....but in the process of the pull over the policeman (MUST HAVE) notice his breathe...they take him in DONT BOOK HIM AND DONT CHARGE HIM...TANK wasnt unruly matter of fact the officers said he was very cordial....THE BEARS release him the press is all over saying how he blew another chance. THE PRESS story he was pulled over for a DUI....BUT WAIT he was legally drunk...a man about 300 pounds and 0.072 hmmmm dont sound like he was almost drunk...CHECK UR FACTS.....what did he do...the man is PAC man...I think thats where yall are get'n confused.....TANK made some bad choices but nothing that all of average non famous ppl make daily

July 3, 2007  11:05 AM ET

I love it when everyone of these fools who like to pretend they never EVER drive their car home from a bbq, after work happy hour or NFL FOOTBALL GAME with a couple of beers (or more) in them say how terribly wrong a guy is for doing the same thing. 90% of you do. You know you do. The legal limit is .08, right? He was under that. I read that they can charge a guy in that state with "impairment to the slightest degree" without showing any alcohol level at all. WHAT?? Talk about a loophole to harrass a guy. He was out at 3AM? His business. Sure, he should be walking on egg shells but the fact is the guy did not commit a DUI. They have a million parking spaces at football games... the same place they sell tons of beer every Sunday. Hypocrates.

July 3, 2007  11:06 AM ET

I told you he was innocent...shame on you people.

July 3, 2007  11:36 AM ET

so i guess he is so ignorant that... he is a lousy driver while almost impaired.... while a normal, functional citizen of this society without his rap sheet can get away with it... HE CAN'T and HE SHOULDN'T!!!! Will you like him to be your driver at 03:30 in the morning with a 0.072 BAC level? Not my driver... not my kids driver.... not my woman driver.... maybe, just maybe my enemy's driver...

July 3, 2007  11:36 AM ET

He took a blood test by time he took the test his alcohol level could have dropped gosh u guys are brilliant. THINK
