Agent: Biron hopes to re-sign with Flyers

The Flyers' interest in controversial goalie Ray Emery does not bother the agent for Flyers goalie Marty Biron. Gilles Lupien, Biron's agent, said yesterday he knows how "the game is played" and how Emery's agent is "shopping" his client. The bottom line, Lupien said, is that the Flyers say they want to re-sign Biron, "and Marty wants to stay with the Flyers." Lupien said he was relatively confident Biron would sign with the Flyers, but that it "depends on the cap" and how much money the team is able to spend. He doesn't expect Biron to sign until around July 1, the day his client can become an unrestricted free agent.

My moneys on Emery, as I hope the Flyers' is too.

Of course he wants to re-sign with Philly - who else will want to sign him?

May 7, 2009  08:40 AM ET

Not really much to say about this...cap issues in the Flyers camp will decide the issue. Regardless, at the end of next season, they will be looking at their goaltending situation, yet again

As a Devil fan there is nothing more I would like than to see Biron resign with Philly. It's one of the great traditions in sports - like singing take me out to the ball game at Wrigley - that the Flyers have no goaltending. What is it 30 years in counting..... The flyers GM's don't seem to understand that no matter how many goal scorers they sign they won't win with OK goaltending (unless you are Detroit). I hope they sign Emery and Biron to 15 year deals..

Any team that needs a goalie which is more than half the league.

What a stupid comment... but as you mentioned you are a Devil fan.

Just be happy you were lucky to have Marty for as long as you did. Clemmenson will suck, and so will the Devils. No one wants to play in Newark.

May 7, 2009  09:51 AM ET

Considering the cap space, is Marty willing to take a "hometown discount?" ;)

Exactly. Beat me to it.

Hopefully no team I pull for. Biron has been a playoff disappointment in Buffalo and Philly. Ditto for his teammate Briere.

Any team that might pick him up can count on doing nothing siginificant.

You can't be serious... Briere, yeah. Biron, no. Biron took this team to the championship game last year, did you forget? In that run he was clearly the reason they won the Caps series. You just can't say that the Flyers didn't make it because of the goalie situation. Biron is an above average goalie who has proven capable to lift his game to a high level in the playoffs. In fact, there is no goalie currently in the playoffs that are that head and tails above him.

Number one you're a ****. But as someone said already you are a Devils fan. and Number two If it takes great goaltending to win playoffs then why havent the devils won a playoff series the past 2 years? Wait until Broduers gone and you're stuck in the same position as the Flyers, trying to find someone to replace Weekes.

You are correct, Biron is an all-star, he will have tons of suitors after him in the UFA market.....I know you are waiting for another Boucher so you can chant Boooooooooooo. Silly Flyer fans still don't get why there team hasn't won in 3 decades.

Clemmenson is a UFA, so him sucking will be on another team, so maybe you guys could go after him too. And all Devil fans are happy we had Marty as long as we did, so thanks.

For someones whose team is playing golf you sure do talk a lot of trash.

QUOTE(#1):

Hahaha... that's how they should decide who is the starter if they both sign with the Flyers. That was such an awesome game when those two went at it.

I think Emery will be pretty popular in Flyer country because of his attitude and his tough guy **** persona. His fashion sense though...

May 7, 2009  10:30 AM ET

Send Marty back to the Sabres. They could use a decent back up again since Telqvist is going to play in Russia and Lalime is probably going to retire.
