06:41 AM ET 05.08 | A baseball source told the Globe the substance that triggered Manny Ramirez's 50-game suspension was human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), a female fertility drug that steroid users sometimes ingest to regulate their natural testosterone levels. HCG has been banned by Major League Baseball since last year and by the International Olympic Committee since 1987. The drug is similar to Clomid, which federal prosecutors have linked to baseball stars Barry Bonds and Jason Giambi.

Just Manny being Manuela.

As a Yankee fan this is almost too good to be true. If I was Joe Torre I would quit LA and come home to the Yankees and right the ship.

Must be rough getting older and having to maintain a high level of competitiveness. He should have stayed in Boston where he would play when he felt like it and didn't care what anybody thought about him. They are all laughing now.

Give him a break, he must be hearing his biological clock ticking down :)

Well done. Funniest message I've seen on here.

Maybe he felt that the only challenge he had left in life was his dream of motherhood...

Its getting to the point who "isn't" using steroids? I don't know about you but at this point I really don't care anymore. Its been about money for so long anyway. And if you can hit or pitch at a high level in MLB you are going to get paid big bucks for it. And its pretty obvious that steroids will help you do that. I hope all their testicles fall off and then maybe when they say they are sorry we will believe them.

I got a good laugh out of this. I just love it to watch these cheaters go down. Who will be next? These guys are so stupid to get caught, just use HGH, they cant even test for it, A-Rod does.

Pujols is next. Noone is naturally built like that.

I reached that point a long time ago.

When that happens I'm out, no more baseball for me, there will be nothing to see or follow for me. I will never compromise and endorse or embrace outright cheating.

its amazing how fanNation can tell us about childress and farves amazing romantic night on a porch or some secret chick arrested and mavs dirk house but they had no clue/rumor/truth on anything about manny... outstanding si.com

Manny Being Tranny

May 8, 2009  08:06 AM ET

We look at the 2004 banner again. I always thought that, for the rest of my life, I would look at that banner and think only good thoughts. Now, there's a mental asterisk that won't go away. I wish I could take a pill to shake it from my brain. I see 2004 and 2007, and think of Manny and Papi first and foremost. The modern-day Ruth and Gehrig. One of the great one-two punches in sports history. Were they cheating the whole time? Was Pedro cheating, too? That 2004 banner makes me think of these things now. I wish it didn't, but it does. This makes me sad. This makes me profoundly sad.

Nice one

Are we starting to realize how pervasive steroids use is? Huh?

Are we beginning to understand that Bonds and A-Rod aren't some rare two-headed monster, but are evidence of a deep, institutional and completely accepted form of organized crime within the game?

I hope so.

Every team that has won a world series over the last 15 years has had someone on the roster that is juicing, or using greenies.......I would'nt worry about it.
