09:47 AM ET 05.09 | Hockey Night In Canada was to get the official freeze out from the Washington Capitals last night at Mellon Arena. CBC producers were told yesterday that cameras not only weren't welcome in the team's dressing room, but the public broadcaster would not be granted between-period interviews during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semi-final between the Caps and Pittsburgh Penguins. The Caps still are upset that the CBC aired footage prior to Wednesday's Game 3 that included strategic information on the team's dressing room white board. A team official said the ban is "indefinite" and will preclude CBC reporter Elliotte Friedman from interviewing players during intermissions both last night and for tonight's Game 5.

I guess the Penguins were watching prior to game 3 & saw that, 'white board'.
No wonder the Caps are ticked. LOL

It was pretty stupid. CBC had a Camera man in the room, focused on Ovechkin, then right behind them they had the "5 Keys to Success" and all game CBC kept bringing up the 5 Keys and if they were doing them. And before the game they went throw each one and described what to see from the Caps.

Wow thats good of them.

Pretty stupid on Washington's part, yeah, if you are going to have the media in the dressing room you need to know to cover it or erase it or hide it.

I don't see why they need to be in there anyway, but if they are coming in, then you probably shouldn't have it in the background of the star attraction.

May 9, 2009  11:42 AM ET

And this influenced last night's game too, right? Excuses, excuses.

May 9, 2009  12:09 PM ET

They forgot the sixth key to success--score more goals than the Penguins!

May 9, 2009  12:15 PM ET

Guess Washington has sour grapes about "Grapes" and his treatment of Ovechkin

HNIC are supposed to be pros, they should know better, they are guests in the team`s room.

May 9, 2009  01:14 PM ET

Hmm, as a Caps fan I'm torn on this. HNIC should have known better than to air that, but at the same time, the Caps staff needs to have better situational awareness. If they dont want it getting out, they should just play it safe and erase it or cover it up. I wouldnt be as upset about what's on the white board. I'd be upset about the disproportionate number of power plays the Bettman's...er....Penguins are getting. It's hard to compete when you're always a man down.

So the Caps aren't pros? Just more whining is all.

CBC showed a white board that 3 things of interest on it:
1) Stop Crosby:
2) Attempt to end the career of Gonchar!
3) Whine and cry after LOSS

Wow, who's whining now? Can you please explain the disproportionate number of penalties against the Caps as opposed to the paltry number against the Pens? Maybe the NHL's Golden Boy must be assured of passage to the next round of the playoffs.

I would love to see the reaction on this board if a Pens player had cheap shot Ovechicken like he did Gonchar. He intentionally kneed Sarge and could have easily ended his career. AO likes to run other teams stars with borderline to illegal intent. This will catch up to him.

I was waiting for an article about that all day, and am PLEASANTLY surprised there hasn't been any whining from Pens fans over that.

Looked like a borderline hit to me too. But no one from Pittsburgh went after him either. Whining and crying to the officals is not much of a deterrent.

May 9, 2009  05:01 PM ET

****, moan, complain. Just win a damn game and shut up!

You won't see anybody try and take him out in a close playoff series either. First and formost, the Pens want to win on the scoreboard. I find it ironic that he was shooting off his mouth after the game 3 crosscheck Chris Kunitz put on their goalie....how rightous he plays and how the league neds to suspend guys that go over the line. His goalie didn't miss a second of icetime and Gonchar is out.

Hits like that also invite the opposition to run your teammates. I am not in favor of whining to officials either, but everybody does it to some degree. The Caps and their fans are allowed to whine about the officiating of this series I guess.

I don't like hits like that from anybody, and would be the first to condemn any Penguin player that I thought intentionally kneed an opponent.

You realize I wasn't accusing you of whining, right?

I agree the idea is to win. But at what cost? I don't think AO is to worried about anyone Pittsburg throws out there. Maybe some retaliation tonight perhaps?
