Can Heat land Bosh without trading Beasley?
The Heat has strong interest in Chris Bosh, but it has not offered to trade Michael Beasley in a package for potential 2010 free agents Bosh or Amare Stoudemire, and there is sentiment inside the Heat against offering Beasley. Here's why: The Heat believes it has a decent chance to sign a top 2010 free agent, even if it cannot trade for one before; envisions Beasley as a future All-Star who can be used at small forward (''he can play that spot, no doubt,'' Pat Riley said) and power forward; and likes having a potential star earning modest money ($15.9 million over the next three years), especially with the possibility of two maximum contracts in 2010-11 ( Dwyane Wade, and ideally, Bosh).

"he Heat believes it has a decent chance to sign a top 2010 free agent"
Other than Wade? Would Bosh really be the ideal player though, aren't him and Beasley going to be similar players?

Not now, but at the deadline next season, it could be a possibility. No way they could get Bosh this off-season without giving up Beasley.

One problem...
Once Colangelo and Bosh decide a trade is best, only a sign and trade will happen. Bosh is a standup dude and has a great relationship with Colangelo and the Raptors overall. He would allow the Raps to get full value by accepting a sign and deal so the Raps could avoid robbery.

This is not a bad idea for the Heat but who are they going to give for Bosh. Beasley would be a good addition to the Raptors but his salary will not match what Bosh will be asking for. Bosh's $15 mil a year will not match Beasley's $4-5 mil a year.

NO!! Beasley is undersized at somewhere less than 6'8. He may eventually become the next generation super star, but at this point in time, if the Heat have the opportunity to land Bosh, he has to go. Riley says they are trying to win NOW. Potential means LATER. To those that feel I'm unjustly critical of Riley, this type of thing is the reason. Riley will find some reason to screw this up, and the Heat will continue in mediocrity.

A very good point and I agree. I would guess that Toronto keeps him for next season, but if its obvious that Toronto has no chance to make a run, they will work out a list of teams to where he wants to go and just start negotiating so they can max out the value for Bosh. I am not worried about getting fleeced as a Raptors fan in this deal.

If they want Bosh now they would have to trade Beasley with probably say Blount.
They dont wanna let Haslem go.
And by the way Hollywood Beasley is 6' 9" not 6' 7"!

Measley is a big disappointment. The problem is not raw talent; the problem is immaturity. I don't mean off the court, as long as it doesn't affect the Heat's reputation in the community. No, I mean his lack of focus on the court, his poor defense, and periodic on-court demeanor.

Everybody should give Beasley a break.
He has done better as a rookie than both Bosh and Garnett!
He will get there and him at small forward will put him in a position to "come of age" so to speak.
Miami has alot of desicions to make.
With Beasley at small forward they also have Moon, Jones, Wright and Diawara.
Diawara should be traded or waived.
Then there's the backup center situation.
Joel Anthony aka the poor man's Ben Wallace had 2 good games this entire season, one in the regular season and one in the post season.
Magloire is the best big body backup center.
Blount should be use at powerfoward behind Haslem to spread the floor with his three point shooting which will give small teams mismatch problems.
Im sure they would want a vet point guard behind Chalmers.
Head is still young and a better backup point than Quinn.
Probaby in 2010 Miami can land Steve Blake or Rafer Alston(he played for Miami before).
Next season's heat starting lineup should be: Chalmers, Wade, Beasley, Haslem & J.O
Bench: Head, Cook, James Jones/Moon, Blount & Magloire
with Dorell & Quinn.

Is T&R trying to help Miami sell tickets? There's no way in hell for Miami to land either Bosh or Amare. They have no pieces or salary cap for that type of deal. Phoenix and Toronto will be receiving garbage if they swing deal with Miami that does not involve Wade.
Miami will at best make the playoffs next season if Pat Riley doesn't trade Haslem for Kidd.. but they will get bounced in the first round again... same deal like this year. Jermaine O'Neal enjoys early vacation on 43mil - Thank you Pat Riley.

the answer is NO WAY
- Toronto is toronto- no one wants to play there....period
(no offense to toronto fans- it's just the facts)
they've NEVER signed a big FA..EVER
Bosh is their ONLY commodity-
he may be moved- but colangelo knows that they MUST get at
least one or 2 VERY good players/prospects back PLUS draft picks
in order to re-build the franchise....because they CANNOT attract
FA's......so unless beasley AND cook/chalmers is part of the
package- ain't NO WAY they'd be able to trade for Bosh

agree-
I don't think he'll ever be a 'star' but he ABSLOUTLEY
can become a 18 & 6-7 guy....which means you're a LEGIT
NBA forward- I just don't see his upside equaling bosh or amare
That being said- if they have to move him & others to GET
amare/bosh- they would be foolish not to-

The only possibe big man the Heat could land without getting rid of Beasley would be Jamison, David West, or Elton Brand.

18 points 7 rebounds guy is a star in this league and Beasley will be better than that.In just 24 minutes he put up 14/6,you give him 36 minutes and is a lock for 20/9 or even better.People forget that beasley is only 20 yo and at his age was better than garnett, bosh,jo,and much more whom became allstars.Beasley needs to pack on a few more pounds and the heat should have their future pf an elton brand type player. What happen when you trade beasley for bosh and bosh decides to leave miami in 2010?.You lost beasley, lose bosh to another team maybe cleveland and you lose wade to chicago knowing he has nobody to play with.Miami's franchise player yakuba diawara hahahaha

If Toronto has the choice of Bosh or Beasley, they should keep Bosh. Bosh is only 25, is still improving and getting stronger, and has emerged as a 20/10 big forward. Beasley is talented, but since he doesn't naturally fit into the 3 or 4 position, you need special players to comlement him. Bosh fits into the 4 spot, which allows Toronto to surround him with naturally positioned players. Toronto already has a talented young point guard in Calderon and a 7-foot mismatch-maker in Bargnani to build around. They just need to add some pieces, including a creative wing scorer.

this is stupid. these posts are useless. "will the heat offer beasley for bosh". they probably would. would anyone accept that offer? probably not. the last thing toronto needs is another 'developing' player that needs to be coddled like a child. the authors of this website just come up with random trade ideas and act as if its reality. its not.

None of the above are bad choices. The problem is that the Heat need a CENTER, or at least a reasonable facsimile. Bosh, in real life is a power forward, but he's 7 feet and has been playing out of position for some time now. West, Brand, or Jamison are all great, but don't solve the problem.
