Trouble rings in Bears front office

Already there has been some internal unrest about the Bears' front-office decision to award two different types of commemorative NFC championship rings -- one for players, coaches, team President Ted Phillips and general manager Jerry Angelo, and a smaller, more modest one for everybody else. The slight difference in size and value is not the point in the minds of some people getting the rings worth less. The point, at least the one interpreted by some members of a group of employees the Bears consider a minority, is a lack of appreciation for key people in the organization who helped put the NFC champs together and keep them in one piece.

Just one of many reasons the Bears org is a bad one.

like jerry jones would have done any different A.L. GO BEARS, F DA COWBOYS!!!

Here you go Chump......Jones works with his coaches...He actually does know alot about football and the management spot. The only reason people don't like his is because we won so much in the 90's.

Do you ever watch football? Actually people always want to talk about Jerry Jones......He has done a good job drafting and re-signing Core Players. Look at the Lions, Dolphins, and Cardinals. The Lions have had some horrible drafts. They are getting better and Calvin Johnson was a great pick. But they can't get Great UFA's because players want to win. The Dolphins have gone through Ray Lucas, Jay Feidler, Cleo Lemon, Joey Harrington, Daunte Culpepper, Trent Green.....and Many others. They just cant build a team, keep QB's, or Coaches. The Cardinals are coming up and turning everything around. They are Drafting well and re-signing the big players.....In the past they would draft studs but no one would re-sign with them. Losing franchises have little success bringing in Key Free Agents.

Jones has gone from Super Bowls to 3 straight 5-11's....back to the Playoffs. He hasn't done it alone but the guy knows what he is doing. This team has been built for the future....We have a bright future ahead.

This is stupid. Jones has worked with Parcells to switch our D from the Smaller, Faster Defense........to the 3-4 Defense and drafted players, Signed Free Agents.......That Parcells wanted......He was a big baby when Jones picked D-Ware at 11 instead of Spears.......then Spears fell to 20 and we picked him. DT Jason Ferguson, FB/RB Richie Anderson, RT Ryan Young, CB Aaron Glenn, CB/FS Marcus Coleman, QB Drew Bledsoe, WR Terry Glenn......Parcells former players.......He also wanted LT Jacob Rogers, RB Julius Jones, LG Stephen Peterman.......When we could have gotten RB Stephen Jackson. Jones allowed Parcells to draft the players he wanted and get the guys he wanted.

How does he not work with the Coaches. Jones gets a bad rap.......Everybody who doesn't like the Cowboys......its only because we won so many times in the 90's.....Its kind of like the Yankees.......You win for so long people want to see some other team win.........We haven't been dominant for a while............THINGS WILL CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!

A.L., I hear what your trying to say about Jerry Jones, but the Dolphins shouldn't be on your list of proverbially bad franchises. They had the one 4-12 season which if you recall was doomed from the beginning with the Ricky Williams retirement fiasco. Then they went 9-7 and almost made the playoffs. Then last year they were slow to start because of Culpepper, and as soon as the ball got rolling Saban decides that he wants to screw with everyone's head regarding the Alabama job. I'm not saying we haven't had our fair share of stability issues, but to lump us in with Arizona or Detriot is a little silly. The Dolphins are more akin to Buffalo or New York...By this I mean, we are rebuilding piece by piece instead of the more popular way which I'll call slash and burn. Slash and burn would be what the Raiders have been doing since they lost the Super Bowl to Tampa a few years back, they gutted the team and started trying to bring in a few FA's to build around. The reason they are still doing this unfortunately for Oakland is Al Davis is a angry little man with a Napoleon Complex rivaling only GW Bush's...I think if John Beck is only half the player he appears to be and with a little help from Cleo and Trent we should be .500 maybe better this year. Plus no one will get more than 100 yards this year against us rushing the ball, and I'd be surprised if anyone scores more that 24 on us.

Fast Joe,

The Jets, redskins, Pats, Ravens, and Bengals will all rush for more than a 100yards on the Dolphins. I love thomas jones for the jets. and Portis and Betts will do it the first game of the season. The Pats are sure to do it as everyone will have to playoff the line not to get burnt, opening nice running lanes for LM.

more bear bulls--t....

July 3, 2007  10:31 AM ET

No disrespect.....FJ. The Dolphins have been spinning their wheels for years now. I think John Beck could be outstanding. I have seen him play a couple of times in person. The Defense is aging and the Secondary is light years behind. Also, need to get younger in the 3-4 D-Line........

shows what a second rate organization the bears are amd why they will never win another super bowl. Look at how they are treating their players like Lance Briggs, Tank Johnson, Alex Brown, trading Thomas Jones for nothing----it is all very classless and eventually will caych up to them.

And to the idiot that said Jerry Jones would do the same, uh, not really---Jerry has always been known to go above and beyond when taking care of members of his organization(remember Alonzo Spellman, Dimitrius Underwood, Michael Irvin, etc.) and he just dropped about $400 million of his own money in to the new stadium so you are SO wrong in comparing the 2 organizations

July 3, 2007  11:57 AM ET

Real quick, other than the players, coaches, team president, and GM... who else is there exactly? Strength trainers? Doctors? I didn't know they got rings in the first place. Smaller rings, so what. If you're not a player/coach/owner you shouldn't even be getting a ring.

July 3, 2007  12:15 PM ET

this is stupid...a lot of teams make different style rings...the Pistons did it in 2004, the Heat did it last season...I don't see the big deal

July 3, 2007  02:13 PM ET

swizbeatoff: you are scary. I think you really believe what you wrote. get a grip on reality bro.

I am a Bears fan and there is no doubt that their ownership is among the lousienst in the game. however this thing about the rings is so unimportant - why does this even get reported? If there's a few ingrates on the staf - run 'em off!

Now to really stir it up - Jerry Jones is the Great Satan of the NFL and the sooner he gets out of the game the better! Nothing personal. this guy has no concept of 'team' other than to make the most money off of his team. He'd rather oversee the demise of the NFL while stuffing his own pockets than support a healthy and competitive league. no long term vision at all! that's why America's Shame is only marginally competitive even with all the money money money JJ 'invests' in it. I'll bet he pays less in taxes than the average season ticket holder in that hallowed casket you Dallas fans call a stadium. the Cowboys make me sick as long as JJ is around.

July 3, 2007  02:39 PM ET

switzbeats
let me tell you a little cause apparently you know nothing about the bears.
1.)lance briggs was offered a 5 year 30mil contract and didnt accept during the year so they used the franchise tag. and he doesnt want to be the second best linebacker on the bears next to urlacher.
2.)The bears have more class then the bengels to rather then keep troble players they released him and while he was going through court and everything the bears player showed up to court for him to tell the judge how tanks a good guy and to reduce tanks jail time.
3.)Alex brown wants out because he doesnt want to compete with mark andersen and ogunleye for defencesive end.
4.) the bears trade thomas jones cause they had cedric benson (4 overall pick 2005) that need to get some more carries with the 5 year 35 mil contract. theres no way there going to pay him that as a backup.

and lets see you guys are just getting a new stadium but we just got a new stadium in 2003. and the bears have four times more history than the cowboys you guys began in 1960, the bears began so whats the big differences between the two organizations.

so next time switzbeats you want to talk about something know your facts behind it.

July 3, 2007  02:40 PM ET

oops it didnt type bears began in 1924.

WickWire,

Okay, maybe I'm a little over my head with my predictions, but Portis and Betts are the only two out of the RBs you named that I'm concerned with. LM, and his bum shoulder, are as durable as a wet ****, and Willis is nothing without Arnold, HAHA! No, no, Willis is good but he should have never left Denver, and if they traded him to Buffalo and I forgot then he wasn't even good enough to cut it in Denver, where even I could rush for a 1000 yards and I run the 40 in like a 4.3.........................years, that is.

July 3, 2007  02:50 PM ET

Sorry I got Willis and Portis confused as to who got drafted where...flame away, all! Either way I'm still funny and right!
