Senators defenseman to Russia?
Brendan Bell has a chance to patrol the blue line in Russia next season. But he'd rather ply his trade in Ottawa than Moscow. The Senators defenseman, who can become a restricted free agent on July 1, has received interest from two teams in Russia's Kontinental Hockey League, but Bell's lawyer, Larry Kelly, told Sun Media that his client's No. 1 priority is to remain in his hometown next season. Though Bell hasn't received any concrete offers from the KHL, indications are teams overseas would be willing to pay more than $1 million tax-free to the offensive-minded defenseman. Kelly said he hasn't had any serious discussions with any Russian team because that's not what Bell wants.

Isn't the Kommunist Hockey League in financial trouble from all the overspending they did last year before the economy dropped?

And who can blame him? Money isn't everything, and he obviously knows it.

You know that Russia and the Soviet Union are 2 distinct countries and that the Soviet Union no longer exists, right?

and furthermore...'Kelly said he hasn't had any serious discussions with any Russian team because that's not what Bell wants.'
I think someone needs to ring this writers bell...

Clearly all signs point to Bell heading to Russia, just like the headline states.

Now has anyone in these forums actually been to beautiful Magnitigorsk, trendy Novokuznetsk, party-all night Nizhnekamsk or even sultry Khabarovsk? I thought not.

1+ million for Brendan Bell? They must not have gave us all the contract specifics. Since this is T&R i'm going to speculate the rest of the said contract: $1.0mil contract to be paid for $1 every year - so basically $1 for the next 1 million years.

I hdeard that it`s because they have more relaxed drinking and driving laws. so next time he passes out in his car the police will just let him sleep it off.

Is BRUCE GARRIOCH a writer by day and an agent by night? Perhaps he is publishing this for some extra cash on the side.
