Report: USC's Floyd paid Mayo
A former associate of NBA star O.J. Mayo has told Yahoo! Sports that Southern California basketball coach Tim Floyd paid to help get Mayo to play for the Trojans. In a story posted Tuesday night at Yahoo! Sports, Louis Johnson, the former associate of Mayo's, said Rodney Guillory told Johnson that Floyd had given Guillory "a grand." Johnson said he was able to view $100 bills inside an envelope Guillory had. Johnson said the payment occurred in 2007. Guillory is a confidant of Mayo's; last year, Johnson accused Guillory of providing Mayo with improper benefits from an agent while the guard played for USC. Yahoo! Sports reported Johnson has told NCAA investigators and federal authorities -- including the FBI, IRS and U.S. Attorney's Office -- that Floyd paid Guillory. Guillory and Floyd declined to comment to Yahoo! about the latest accusations by Johnson.

And let me clarify my stance just so you homers out there don't go crazy. I didn't say my school hasn't, but its more interesting news to me when a school that doesn't typically pay out players does, versus USC, which is more known for that type of tomfoolery.

Where's the photos and what did Mayo do to this associate of his that made him so mad he would cough up the story. Or did someone from UCLA pay him a grand to talk.

Of course NOTHING will come of this, aka the Reggie Bush fiasco. However if the guy had played for Morgan State......they'd be on pro for at least 5 years!!!!!!

Wasn't Mayo a highly touted recruit? Does anyone really believe that it took only $1000 to get this guy to commit? The economy is killing everything! Didn't a Michigan booster pay Webber and Rose something like $250,000 in the 90's?

If Floyd paid a $1000 for Mayo, it was a waste of money and a dumb deal for all parties involved. Technology recruiters can get more than that for signing me with a client.
If it's true Floyd should fired and the USC should loose scholarships and forfeit games for that season.

USC pays all it's big name athletes. Reggie Bush recieved hundreds of thousands and the NCAA did not care. Jarrett received over $36,000 in free rent and NCAA was apathetic... If USC was SMU they would get the death penalty (like SMU received). But unfortunately they are too high profile and like a similarly corrupt organization, AIG, they are too big to fail.

C'mon man.. at least get the stories straight if you're gonna tell em.. Reggie Bush's family may have gotten paid, but it wasn't by USC.. it was some shady ex-con who wanted to be his agent. In the Jarrett case, Leinart's dad paid part of Jarrett's rent because it was an expensive apartment. Jarrett had to repay it all. And if anybody believes all it took was a grand to sign OJ Mayo, you're obviously high.

Being a Notre Dame fan I know what it's like when everyone jumps on the bandwagon, that said, with all these public allegations and federal investigations, the NCAA would be wise to start taking these things seriously and either do their own investigations in a timely manner, or dismiss them. It's the fair thing to do for USC and college football.

The point being that when I kid has hundreds of thousands he is going to flaunt it and EVERYONE knew Reggie had Money coming in. He had $20,000 worth of diamonds stuck in his earlobes during games for the whole world to see. And yes the players can pay the money back AFTER a signing bonus but that does not make it right. USC is well aware of the violations as is the NCAA but nobody deals with violations at USC regardless of how blatent. Need we bring up the Sanchez rape? The name Trojans is very appropriate when it comes to how they can say F..K the rules and still have protection.

Lots of college athletes wear huge FAKE diamond earrings. Do you really believe those earrings were real? If so, you're one of the same ones who believe they signed OJ Mayo for a grand.
