What does Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin need to do to fully make amends in Pahokee? Hop on a plane, Principal Ariel Alejo said. Three months after Kiffin insulted the school and community while talking to Tennessee boosters, a new controversy was sparked last week. Tennessee assistant coach Eddie Gran, who helped swing star receiver Nu'Keese Richardson from Florida to the Volunteers, arrived at Pahokee's campus last week to offer junior Antonio Ford a scholarship. Upset that Kiffin has yet to directly apologize to the school and the community for implying they are inept, Alejo told Gran no one from Tennessee is permitted on school grounds until Kiffin satisfies that demand. Kiffin apologized to Blue Devils coach Blaze Thompson publicly and privately, but Alejo and Pahokee Chamber of Commerce President Lewis Pope III want Kiffin to attend an open meeting in Pahokee to clear the matter with the community and school. "Coach Kiffin publicly apologized to Blaze Thompson ... but I'm still waiting, and the community is as well," Alejo said. "It's what I think he owes the community of Pahokee and what he owes this school. His comments were made public, so now he needs to go publicly and retract those comments." Alejo suggested Kiffin fly down and attend tonight's city commission session or the school's Student Advisory Council meeting May 19.

Boo hoo.

Hey Alejo, are you the teenager or are the students. Move on and grow up.

Hey Lane, get on a plane and start kizzinazz. You gotta recruit and can't do it if you keep pizzin everyone off.

May 13, 2009  08:22 AM ET

Kiffin looked like a jerk with those comments until Alejo went out and proved him right.

May 13, 2009  08:26 AM ET

Kiffin is a train wreck; the Brittney Spears of coaching.

How unbelievable is it that he is making Al Davis look smart!

May 13, 2009  08:32 AM ET

That's nice of Alejo. Why would he want to help a kid get a scholarship to further his education? It's not like it's his job... oh wait.

May 13, 2009  08:33 AM ET

Isn't a high school coach supposed to do things in the best interest for the school and it's students? I don't like TN or Kiffin, but if a kid wants to go to any school, the high school coach should never be a barrier. If I was the principal I would tell this coach that he has no say on who comes or goes, and that kids come first, not his petty ego.

May 13, 2009  08:40 AM ET

Antonio Ford is prob'ly 17 years old, and he's the only one in this story who doesn't look ****ing childish.

May 13, 2009  08:42 AM ET

Alejo -
Look out for your kids....not your ego. Let this drop. It only makes you look like a child.

Exactly. This is becoming all too common.

This is stupid...its like SI is on a personal witch hunt on Coach Kiffin. Its almost a daily thing to post something bad about him. You can't tell me he's not the only coach to p*s*off some other school or bring in a questionable recruit! SI is the one who needs to grow up!

May 13, 2009  08:53 AM ET

What the F kind of name is "Nu'Keese??"

Sounds like something you get at a car dealership...

Do yourself a favor and go by "Nuke" which...is...pretty awesome

May 13, 2009  08:58 AM ET

So you mean to tell me that a coach isn't going to let a student talk to a school that is offering him a scholarship to better his education all because he feels like he deserves an apology?? How ignorant is that?? & u mean to tell me that the community is fine with hindering a young kid from getting his education?? If that is the case, then Kiffiin was right about the town, and if I was Ford I'd transfer to another school....

Alejo wants his 15 minutes of fame. It's the only time that anyone who he can't flunk out is going to care about what he has to say. The last thing Kiffin should do is kiss his arse for any reason.

May 13, 2009  09:21 AM ET

Yes, this is ridiculous. Kiffin might have insullted the guy or the school, but the kid(s) should come first.

May 13, 2009  09:21 AM ET

This is all crazzy. Pahokee is a real good football school, what the coach said was wrong also. But the only people loosing from this are the kids from Pahokee.

May 13, 2009  09:22 AM ET

Its not the football coach, it's the principal. Re-read the story. Blaze Thompson is the coach-he has received an apology from Kiffin. The school's principal and the city's Chamber of Commerce are the ones who want the apology now.

Yep. Imagine what kindahell would take place if the kid can't meet with the coach cuz of this and doesn't get an offer. I wouldnt be to happy.

May 13, 2009  09:27 AM ET

Kiffin did more than just insult the school and the community. He impugned their integrity when he told the kid the school could not be trusted to fax the offer. I really don't blame the school, or the community for letting the University of Tennessee know that it is not welcome for a visit. Given Kiffin's penchant for running his mouth without using his brain, getting dragged over the coals a bit seems reasonable.

You're right but the others should get over it and let it die. What's next, the community wants him to go door to door and apologize. It's a bunch of "adults" wanting the spotlight, acting like children and interfering with a students chance at advancement.
