Suns want to keep Big Three

06:25 AM ET 05.13 | Suns general manager Steve Kerr doesn't seem to be in a rush to deal either of his big men, but he doesn't sound opposed to it, either. Shaquille O'Neal is 37 but coming off a successful season, averaging 17.8 points and posting his second-best free-throw percentage (59.5) and field-goal mark (60.9). He sure sounded like a guy after the season who was campaigning for a job elsewhere, such as Dallas, perhaps? Goodness, did he forget Amare Stoudemire will be back? Coach Alvin Gentry, meanwhile, sounded like a coach who would prefer to have all his big names return, starting with Steve Nash.

Another headline that does not back up the title of the story. It does not say anything about the Suns keeping the big 3. The coach would prefer it but that's about it. If they are going to trade any of them in the future then trade them in the summer and not in the middle of the season.

Yeah, what is with the headlines?
This group isn't going to win anything, Nash and Shaq should go to Orlando. Nash can spread the floor with his shooting and passing, and I'm sure Shaq wouldn't mind backing up Howard. HAHA.

I think shaq should retire before he ends up like Jordan or worse Brett Farve. He got 4 rings what else does he have to prove?

The Suns should bring their players back for next season to make one more run at it. With all that talent, it's worth another try. If it doesn't work out, the expiring contract of Shaq and Nash give them $33 million to work with next summer. Or, the Suns can use their contracts to acquire young talent in midseason trades.

That is an EXCELLENT point-
the last 2 seasons- they've tried to make a run on the fly
IN season- rather than int he off-season >>which obviously backfired
Dump Hill, pick up an athletic DEFENSIVE SF
Let the team have an off-season to gel & roll-
If they do break it up- in reality- I just can't see them being
any more competetive any time soon- so give it the year-
you'd have a TON of $$ off the books & if they fail- rebuild then

ever since they got rid of Marion things have been going downhill for them...if Shaq stays one more year...its guarenteed Amare is gone....he's clogging up the middle for him...Amere will most likely sign with the Nets

come on- what exactly did the Suns accomplish WITH marion ?
any rings ? any finals appearances ?
sure they ran & gunned & put up lofty reg season #'s
but they did NOTHING in the playoffs to warrant keeping things
status-quo >>> point is the act needed a change-

well what have they done since getting rid of him? they surely haven't gotten better...they didn't need to change a thing...they still would've been the top 3 in the west...only reason why they couldn't ever get over the hump was because of Tim Donahuy...

what ?
are you talking about Amare getting off the bench?
- that's not the ref that's the LEAGUEs rules-
it cost my knicks a shot int he 90's ....that's the rules

I know he was cheap- and he can give you some nice play-
but they need a guy that can really guard (lol- I know that's
an oxymoron with the suns)

I totally agree - Trevor Ariza will be hot on the market this summer... If ur Mitch do you invest into young Ariza or proven Odom... oh well that's LA's problem. Anybody know the most overweight NBA player?

WHAT??? Shaq in the same sentence as Jordan and in a negative way, u are laughable at best!!!! And what has Shaq proven besides the following: he cant shut up or say anything worth listening to,cant act or rap,was a excellent side kick to elite guards, cant shoot freethrows or play defense , was totally destroyed by the best centers in the league time after time even though outweighing them by close to 100 pounds(see 1994 finals) and the sad fact that u dont have to have to be able to shoot from 4 feet or beyond or have any kind of post game to be considered one of the best centers in NBA history just because u can dunk on a man 100 pounds less than u and 1 foot shorter LMAO!!!!!!

I thought they were just getting rid of Shaq......Oh wait I thought they were just sending Nash to Toronto.......Oh wait, Stoudamire is going to be traded for a pack of grape flavord Big League Chew. Bottom line is it doesn't need to be reported every time some stupid trade or no-trade rumor comes out of Phoenix.

Boy the suns are a mess. The owner wants to cut money, the GM wants to keep adding old guys and mess with the style of play and worst of all if they tank this next season they don't have a first round pick in the next draft. While they never won a championship the Suns of old were the best team to watch. But cheap ownership (let go of Joe Johnson for money reasons) and a horrible GM (Marion, Bell, Diaw all traded) doomed them.
