Another Scarlet Knight to transfer
Rutgers' roster for the 2009-10 season just got a little bit smaller. The Scarlet Knights announced Tuesday afternoon that guard Earl Pettis will transfer from the university. Pettis, who will be a junior next season, hails from Philadelphia. "Earl and I had a meeting in which he expressed his desire to return home to Philadelphia," Rutgers coach Fred Hill said in a statement. "After discussing the matter with Earl and his family, we support his decision and will aid the process. Earl is a tremendous young man who has been a valuable member of the program for the past two seasons. We wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors." The decision by Pettis to transfer leaves Hill with only three guards with experience for next year's squad. Pettis is a 6-5 swing guard who earned starting minutes at various points during the season and ended up starting 20 games. This past season he averaged 4.5 points per game and 2.5 rebounds as a freshman. Pettis is the second player to transfer from Hill's team since the start of the 2008-09 season. Freshman Christian Morris decided to leave the university eight games into this season.

This looks like one of the tedious one man shows you have to put up with to score with that check in the Drama Department.

The guy wants to go home to the hood. Where he knows people and can get a little loan when he needs it, or a job if he has to. The need for cash-flow probably prompted his move.
Boosters are not exactly welcome when it comes to student players anymore.

Money corrupts everything......high school players are now getting paid....and the taxes used to fund high school sports has gone through the roof.....my local rural high school has about 15 different sports programs.....yet many of these young kids can barely read and write....all they talk about is sports.....you never see em crack a book open.
