Kirilenko happy in Utah

From what I'm hearing, you can put to rest any issues about discontent on the part of Andrei Kirilenko this summer. Kirilenko is said to be happy to be in Utah, has settled into life in Salt Lake City with his wife and sons, and is looking forward to being back with the Jazz next season. With the Jazz making decisions about the future of their entire roster, this is no small consideration when it comes to Kirilenko, who is owed $34.3 million the next two seasons. Don't expect any trade demands to a Russian blog this summer. Kirilenko also voiced no displeasure with his role coming off the bench, although he felt the second unit was more effective earlier in the season, before Paul Millsap had to move to the starting lineup to replace an injured Boozer.

This team was too talented to just scrap into the playoffs................they need someone like Kobe Bryant or Lebron James.

they are close to winning.... like the magic one player away from making some noise.

As long as Deron still players there they'll be alright.

Um...*plays there

Kirilenko is probably gathering wives.

Solid player. Utah's problem isn't him anyway. Get an improvement over Okur in the post and I think the Jazz would be fine.

The Jazz also would be better off either engineering a sign and trade for Boozer or just letting him go and let Milsapp inherit the power forward position. I'd rather have the younger player and Milsapp is a beast on the boards.

I'm not against Mehmet Okur but the Jazz could just do better at that Center position. A little more athleticism and someone willing to actually play in the paint would be more beneficial to Williams.

Yes, AK-47 is happy : next two seasons $16,452,000 / $17,823,000 for a 6th man not bad ! More then Deron Williams $13,758,000 / $15,202,590 / $16,647,180 / $18,091,770

Maybe he should use some of that money to buy a hamburger or two [thousand]. Seriously, it's getting scary to watch him. One of these days he's just going to snap in half.

How exactly would that work out ?
if he opts out- CAN they sign & trade or is he no longer their property?

I still thnk they should re-sign him-
yeah he always seems to be hurt-
but he really is a legit post player- & those are VERY hard to find

Where's AreJay? I need to know how the weather is in Lakerland?

jgb - Yes they can, not trying to sound condescending, but that's how it works. Although he can sign with anyone, Utah can offer him the "best" contract ($1-$2 Million more per year, and 1 year longer) than other teams with available cap space.

So if a team really wants to pay him that much, Utah would have to re-sign him and then trade him (or they could refuse and screw him out of a few million).

Or, the more likely scenario, to go to a team without the cap space would also a require a sign-and-trade.

I actually haven't given it much thought but I assume they could do it.

Thank you for answering the question. I knew it was possible but the technicality of it all was escaping me.

Not a problem, I'm not an expert by any means, so that may not be 100% accurate. That side of leagues interests me as well, but I don't get much exposure to how the NBA cap works over in Eastern Canada.

I think Detroit will sign him outright. Boozer is good.

May 14, 2009  01:08 PM ET

Boozer good? ha ha i cant wait to see him in Detroit with nobody like Dwill passing him the ball. Next year when Detroit signs him for a hundred million I just cant wait to hear about how big of a bust he is at the end of the year. Hes going to be the Elton Brand of the 09 free agency and then have an Elton Brand year and end TAKIN all there cap space for the 2010 free agency freena. Ha ha at that time im really going to love Boozer!!
