Just for the record, when quarterback Tony Romo predicted a Super Bowl run for the Cowboys in 2007, he wasn't just caught up in the moment. Romo said his opinion is based on what the Cowboys did last season and the potential he sees for next year based on their play during last weekend's minicamp. Romo is also feeling good about the ongoing talks with the Cowboys about a contract extension. His current deal runs through 2007. The two sides are in the preliminary stages, but Romo said he would like to get something done before the start of the season.

Why wouldn't Tony want a new deal before the season starts?

By the time November rolls along, he'll be carrying a clip-board and Wade's headset cord.

A super Bowl run in the NFC, I think a flag football team has a shot in the NFC. Way to go out on a limb there Romo. Too bad Brad Johnson will be the one taking the boys there.

WOW

What a story!

Maybe they should this truth & rumors once a week

You get Nascar drivers saying "I'm going to win a race soon"

Quarterbacks saying "going to win the superbowl this year"

This is not interesting folks.

I can think of five teams in the NFC with a better shot at making it to the super bowl than the cowboys. Bears, saints, seahawks, eagles, and niners. Yes, niners. That's right, I said it.

I like the Cowboys coming out of the NFC.. that is if Romo continues to improve. T.O.'s fondness of Wade Phillips sure doesn't hurt either

July 3, 2007  12:08 PM ET

I mean what is he really going to say "Im going to **** up like I did last year when I bobbled the snap in the playoffs". Saying they will win the Super Bowl is what you are supposed to say, especially when you want a new contract, frankly, he doesnt deserve teh new contract after not playing a full season yet, see Scott Mitchell & Rob Johnson...

July 3, 2007  12:45 PM ET

Rob Johnson at least had cool designer stubble!

July 3, 2007  12:54 PM ET

T.O. is fond of everyone until they don't get him enough plays.

As for Romo needing a new contract...hey...the guy has to go to music awards and stuff. And yes, Romo will be in the Super Bowl this year. Only he will be standing beside Carrie when she gets ready to perform at halftime. Word to the wise...hold onto the ball first, then talk about Super Bowls....I see Danny White Jr. here at times.

dallas loses first round in playoffs

July 3, 2007  02:25 PM ET

sorry Tony Romo, you will never be a starting QB in a Super Bowl. but go out there and have a great career anyway.

July 3, 2007  02:50 PM ET

tony 's prediction is as good as a rex grossman on a bad day.

July 3, 2007  03:32 PM ET

Will Dallas be a better team this year? The answer coming from this Eagles fan is yes, and only for one reason, Tony Romo. He's going to be really great this year, and every one will be on the bandwagon eventually, once he preforms a lot better than most expect. The only thing that will hold Dallas back is releasing Parcells, and keeping TO.

Will they beat the Eagles for the division this year? No, my Eagles team will be too strong, but Dallas will be dangerous, and only because of Romo's improvement.

July 3, 2007  04:07 PM ET

I just hope that sharing a parking lot with the Rangers doesn't rub off on the Cowboys... if history repeats itself in Arlington, then Cowboy fans may actually see them in the playoffs a couple of times in the ten years after the new stadium is completed! Not that they can make it past the first round... I just Carry Underwood doesn't hand Romo one of her trophies to hold!

July 3, 2007  04:09 PM ET

I can't wait to see the ESPN tear-jerker showing Carrie Underwood feeding this Cowgirl baby food through a straw after Sean Taylor and Landry get done with him!!!

Better get that contract done soon pal because there is not much call for a drooling snap-botcher in the NFL.

TO explodes or Romo implodes - which happens first?!?!??!

July 3, 2007  04:15 PM ET

Art Monk isn't God....maybe Noah.....but not God. :)

I'm just want to know if anyone with a brain (Cowboys fans can comment too I guess) sees the resemblance between Tony Romo and Danny White. Good in the regular season, find a way to mess up the postseason. I mean the guy had 7 fumbles in the last 3 or 4 games.

July 3, 2007  04:56 PM ET

The Cowgirls...hhahaha
I love that insult...

July 3, 2007  10:35 PM ET

Who makes it through the entire season, Romo or McNabb? Whoever does will probably be the division winner. And let's give Romo a little more time to make his own legacy, and hold off those Danny White comparisons for now, ok? One fumbled snap doesn't equate to 3 NFC Championship game letdowns.

When ANY of your teams carries FIVE Lombardis around... talk crap.

Dallas will be the team to beat in the NFC come playoffs, mark it down....
