Bibby on way out of Atlanta?
Atlanta's first order of business this offseason: Addressing its point-guard position, after Mike Bibby showed his age (31) and faltered badly vs. the Cavaliers. Atlanta's best moments, few as they were, came with Bibby on the bench and Flip Murray on the floor. Bibby is a free agent this summer, but the Hawks won't re-sign him if he's looking for big money.

He ABSOLUTELY will be looking for big/decent $$
because it will be his last possible (big) contract
- he's gone- cause Atl is probably thinking they'll only be able to re-sign EITHER johnson or Bibby(financially)...and at this stage JJ is a MUCH better player...
the question is not what HE thinks his value is- cause he won't be
getting anywhere near max- but what GM's think his value is
- he's a veteran pg- I'd say he'll get an offer above mid-level exemp
probably 3 year 8-10 mil.....not sure if he's really worth it, but
the 2 FA pg's this summer are him & Kidd- I'm pretty sure thats it

Andre Miller is a free agent as well and I think he's stronger than Kidd and Bibby which should further drive down Bibby's value. The thing is they are all great point guards that can run a team efficiently but giving them starter contracts at this stage of their carreers will make any GM look foolish.
So bad my Knicks can only offer a 1year deal - we would have overpaid him or Miller in a minute.

" . . .after Mike Bibby showed his age (31) and faltered badly vs. the Cavaliers. Atlanta's best moments, few as they were, came with Bibby on the bench and Flip Murray on the floor."
The whole team faltered badly against the Cavs. No one had a good series, and it's untruthful to say they were better with Flip on the floor. There's no question Bibby has been a significant part of their success this past two seasons. He'll probably get $7-8 million a year for 3-4 years, while they continue to develop Acie Law.
They also have to decide the worth of Marvin Williams, Zaza Pachulia, and Flip Murray. The qualifying offer for Williams is $7.4 million, while Flip and Zaza deserve decent contracts. Additionally, they have to decide whether Al Horford is their future center or power forward. The latter might require them to move Josh Smith, unless they can find a perimeter-shooting center (Bargnani, Okur).

He's 31. He is most definitely looking for one last good payday, unless a championship-calibre team offers him a good chance at a ring but at less money and he decides that is worth sacrificing some money. I don't think Atlanta has made enough strides to be considered a legit threat in the east, so Bibby's probably gone off to greener pastures.

I guess there will be many free agent PGs this summer. If JKidd does not resign w/ Dallas then maybe Bibby will reunite w/ Jason Terry in Dallas. Raymon Felton and Ramon Sessions would be a good choice also for Dallas.

Cleveland's strategy- give the ball to whoever Bibby's guarding and get out of the way. Yeah, Bibby can shoot but he's become a one dimensional player. Let him walk.

yeah forgot miller....
I honestly don't know what his value really is
but I'd put Miller ahead of both Bibby & kidd as far as an investment

Miller is extremely durable. He's played at least 80 games in each season of his career. That's why I don't think it's a bad idea to give him a 3-4 year contract at his age. I estimate his worth to be about the same as Bibby's: about $7-8 million. I estimate Kidd's to be about $5-6 million. They have different types of games with different strengths and weaknesses, so it's not easy to rank them. It depends on how they fit in with a team. For example, I think Miller is better than Bibby, but Bibby fits in better with Philly. Philly was the worst 3-point shooting team in the league so Bibby's shooting could help spread the floor for Brand's post game and Iguodala's slashing. As presently composed, Philly's major minutes would go to Miller, Iguodala, Young, Brand, and Dalembert - and none of them spread the floor.

Miller also has upped his scoring the last couple of years
- I think he''ll get a little more than that-
Not sure exactly what Portland has left (cap room)-
but they ashould go HARD for Miller- he'd be a perfect guy there
And I think Kidd might be good to replace Bibby in Atl
Bibby- I don't know....I wouln't overpay for him- midlevel $$

Mike is an old 31..He came into the league prior to 20 and he doesn't have the legs left to be an elite point guard. I watched here in the atl him get driven on by any pg with speed. Mike can still shoot the rock. but defensively he's a major liability. He'll get a free agent exemption deal.. but he's wayy off that 12-15 mill a year..

Part of Philly's problem is they had to overrely on Miller's scoring. It's better when he's the 3rd or 4th option on a team. That should change if Brand comes back healthy.
The Blazers have 12 players under contract for about $50.6 million. That gives them some wiggle room if the salary cap is set around $57-58 million. They might give Bayless a chance at the starting spot. Since Roy does a lot of point guard duty, they don't really need a natural point next to him. Blake can do a good job running the second unit. And Rodriguez certainly has to be shipped out.

did you watch the playoffs ?
Portland is REAL close- they NEED a veteran PG - who can lead & score. Youth doesn't win in the playoffs - if they simply keep the Roy, LA tandem as their only options they will never get to the next level-
Bayless might be nice one day- but Portland can win SOON if they
are smart

Bibby ranks third behind Miller and Kidd. He is a complement, backup guard good for range and setting up the offense. Thats about it. He could be a good backup for Houston, because they could mask his defensive liability. Slightly above average offensive player, below average defensive player...
I see 8-11 mil over 3 years for this guy....

Blake is good for Portland but he doesnt really fit what they need in a point guard so to speak.
He runs the floor but does not lead on the offensive end.
Bibby would be perfect for the blazers due to his playoff experience, team leadership and excellent three point shooting.
Blake to me would fit better with Miami once he is a free agent.

Should be noted that without him Atlanta wouldn't have gotten nearly as far as they have teh last 2 years. They should try to keep him...as a backup, steady hand off the bench, spot up shooter...

Yes, I did watch the playoffs and I saw Houston defeat Portland with two young point guards with a combined 5 seasons and 6 playoff games between them. Yes, the Blazers do need veteran leadership and an upgrade at point guard would be nice. However, veteran leadership can come from a number of places, such as the starting small forward, the backup power forward, a third string point, or the 11th and 12th men. Additionally, the Blazers are becoming veterans themselves after being baptized in the playoffs. I think Miller is better on a team that can play 3 shooters on the floor at a time. Portland is better off going after Kirk Hinrich, although no one seems to think as much of him as I do.

Miller is an unrestricted free agent and Portland can just make him an offer. They need to keep Blake as a backup PG. Raef's contract has expired as far as I know.
