Game 7 must-win for Van Gundy?

Let's see: Boston doesn't have Kevin Garnett or Leon Powe, while Orlando's top player, Dwight Howard, is taking shots at his own coach, with the East semifinals coming down to a Game 7 Sunday night in Boston. Sounds like Stan Van Gundy is one loss from the unemployment line.

- this isn't Truth OR rumor -

His main problem is that hole below his moustache. He cant keep that shut. With today's loss, he should be gone. SVG's 4th quarter strategies are always questionable. This series should have been won by Orlando in 6.

The number of high profile players that have expressed displeasure with his coaching warrants an assesment of his impact to the team and lets face it alienating players is a bad omen. Don't forget Howard has not retracted his statement... if Boston wins they have overachieved given they are so shorthanded that they have to rely on Marbury.

On the other hand if Orlando blows this game the coach will have to answer alott of questions. Boston's missing two major rotation players in Garnet and Powe and yet Screaming Gundy hasn't been able to capitalize.. oh well I've got 40 on Orlando they better make me rich.

I agree. i cant really figure out what gundy's trying to do. this should have been over by now with the Magic advancing in 5 or 6. Howard should have dominated without KG inside. And to ask your center to create his own touches by crashing the boards is downright ridiculous. Offensive rebounding is an iffy proposition no matter how good you are.

Pathetic T&R today. Little slow huh? Let's spice it up a bit. I predict Artest will be ejected in the forth quarter of todays game with the Lakers. Any takers?

LOL right. you are just one more bandwagoner blaming the coach for the team's inability to win a game.
You know what? I want VG to be fired, and then we will see this magic team melt away into obscurity, and THEN you will appreciate all he did for this team.
I mean why people are so rtetarded that they cannot see the great job SVG did for this team since he picked it up? This was a laughable team. he made them into a team that is one game away from the east finals and people say the coach is the problem?

I don't think Artest will get ejected by the fourth quarter. this is game seven and usually when the game is close by that time, it will be a downfall for any team to have a player get ejected. Artest wants to make it at the end to show the world that he has changed for the better and he wants to tell Kobe that he wants to play for the Lakers next season because he is a free agent.

It sounds like another lame story from the New York Post.

Comparing KG to Jameer Nelson? That's a no-no.

May 17, 2009  01:26 PM ET

wasn't he considered for coach of the year? fortunes change quickly in the nba.

There are reasons why the loss of Garnett is more significant than that of Nelson. Garnett is a 12-time All-Star, 8-time Defensive 1st team, 4-time All-NBA, once NBA MVP. And he averaged 20 and 10 in last year's playoffs. Nelson has one debated all-star nomination. B.J. Armstromg also made the team once. Additionally, Rafer is not much of a downgrade from Nelson. The only edge Nelson has is his shooting. The Magic also have two playoff-tested veterans in Johnson and Lue.

Now it's in LA, the refs will protect Kobe. He's going to throw another elbow in RA's face and they'll pretend it's in the chest and if RA tries to protest, he'll get a technical. It only has to happen twice and he'll be out and you win. That's NBA officiating...

No doubt!!! But some lame people have some lame ideas - and what are they complaining about? Even accepting Shaq's statements as true, you have the #3 possibly losing to the #2 in 7, and that's suppose to be grounds for disposing of VanGundy now? Wait, did they have a worse season than last season?

Maybe next year it's more of an argument

I agree, but it may be the first quarter!
